As per title, 400g blocks of Mclellands Seriously Strong White Cheddar are now £2.00 at Tesco.

It was this price recently at Asda and people seemed to think it was a really good deal.

Not only a good deal but a really good cheese too. Bought 3 packs tuther day with 2 in the freezer.

this deal is currently posted i think but anyhow...
nice cheese - red version of it seems more consistently tasty
even better deal though is the mull of kintyre 400g extra mature also for 2 quid though someone said last time may just be regional

Used to be same price at my Asda but not anymore. Super tasty - highly recommend it. Ours finished rather quickly - wished I got another block at the same time.

Somerfield had the red one only on offer for the past week or two at 1.99, still was the other day, although i personally prefer the white, lovely on toast....im getting hungry just thinking about it mmmmm...

Doesn't cheese last for months without putting it in the freezer?
I eat at least a 400g pack a week

A superb cheese, although like others, I think the red is a better taste. Looks like I'm out shopping tomorrow. :D

I'd recommend a cholesterol check mate.

Not a huge fan of this cheddar - it has weird crunchy bits in it and a sweet taste.

400 grams of cheese equals about 100 grams of saturated fat.

Also available in medium if you prefer.

I think my family are related to mice with to the quantity we get through!

Definately HOT and thanks for posting :)

Who cares there is nothing wrong with that. I can eat a block of cheese in one go on toast. :giggle:

I was in Tesco's Five Ways Birmingham yesterday and this deal was only on the medium, not the strong stuff. Ended up buying Cathedral City extra mature - can't be beaten!

Do you drive to work or just roll?

Has anyone else noticed that the seriously strong cheddar no longer tastes the same? I have been eating this cheese for years and cant get enough of it. Recent batches I have bought seem to lack that "bite" and "crunch" which is what i loved about the cheese and also the flavour does not seen as strong and there is more of a waxy feel about the cheese. Have they changed the recipe for this cheese or is it just me?

For people who live near a Waitrose, they have a few cheeses on half price offer which may be a good alternative.

Waitrose Wexford velvet cheddar mature (Strength rating 4), 350g - £1.64

Waitrose Canadian cracker cheddar extra mature (Strength rating 6), 350g - £1.65

Waitrose Cornish quartz cheddar (Strength rating 7), 350g - £1.99

Waitrose Somerset ploughman's Cheddar extra vintage (Strength rating 8), 350g - £2.15

Obviously both the Wexford and Canadian work out cheaper per kg that the Seriously Strong Cheese. It's worth noting that in common with most (all?) cheeses from that country, the Canadian cracker cheddar is not vegetarian
