Penguins were 24 for £1.69 in Homebargains. Works out about 57p. Assuming they still stock them this is their standard price. Supermarkets always over charge on branded stuff.

They do yes your right, but you do get consistent stock levels and fresh long dated products. Homebargains stock and often carry short dated or discontinued lines and lack choice .Could you get all the products listed at a cheaper price in Homebargains, I suspect not , same applies to pack size what if I just want an 8 pack ?
Having said that if youractually near or going in such shops and the deal is there that you want at the time they can represent good value.

The stock I bought had 8+ months on the date and a full shelf. These are not like crisps which have 1-2 month shelf life. I have consistantly purchased penguins from Homebargains. They do not put them in a promo stand so no one really notices them. Not sure you have got this right at all. You assume cause they are cheaper it's because they are end of line stock. The reality is the supermarkets charge more and make large margins on many products.

The reality is these store source their products from cancelled supermarket orders, bankrupt stock and discontinued lines, that is the retail model that these bargain store work to and is the reason stock lines and levels are often random. . They rarely purchase direct from the manufacture like the supermarkets do and they generally have lower overheads as they operate smaller stores with limited stock ranges. Your deal for the penguins was 10 months ago and by your own admission you have no idea whether they are still stocking this item or whether the £1.69 price was a standard price or a promotional price.
Probably not going to convince you , so probably best just to agree to differ on this one .

They have been selling this product for over 2 years at this price. I have been in 4-5+ times to buy stock over that period. Last was 1-2 months back. I buy 7-8+ packs each visit. It's part of their standard range. They do have promotional stock too. For instance Homebargains sold 36 pack Weetabix for a while but stopped once stock cleared. Like most stores you have a standard product range and promotional items you sell from time to time. As their link suggests.

This was posted 4 weeks ago and the deal is still current. No one has expired it.

Try popping into the store. My current batch have a shelf life of July 2017. Don't knock discount stores. DYOR.

Just acquired another 8 packs of the 24 packs of Penguins at Home bargains. Still £1.69. They had more on the shelf. Best before date was August 2017. :)
