Delivered "30-50days" No feedback yt for this item. Very cheap for an android box with Kodi
If you get the remote shown in the revue you mention, that would be a bonus.
Why bother with Libreelec, the only purpose of that it is to load Kodi, which this box already has?

The point of libreelec is if you don't want to use any android apps and just want a kodi-only box.

my box has libreelec installed because kodi was all i used so it made sense

It's faster because it boots straight in to kodi. you don't have to wait around for it to boot to android and then run the kodi app. and it's faster because kodi itself is light on resources as it is.

very much a "how long is a piece of string" question. personally, i'll always go for a minimum of 2gb of ram and whatever the most recent amlogic processor is that i can afford.

this is the one i have .. fully compatible with libreelec.

Libreelec is faster and works better as its the better supported linux version of Kodi. Its also not wasting memory supporting android processes in the background
The android version of kodi always has a few issues with these boxes . Though the issues might not affect you ( surround sound passthrough is usually one of the issues along with playing fewer video formats )

I can see why you need to run openelec on that box, there are 50,000 aps on it already :)
I'm not sure I would want to pay so much, the last box I got through Ebay , a Beelink (posted here) failed after about three months and it seems impossible to get the Chinese sellers to do anything about it, and I suppose it's the same if you buy direct through any of the Chinese sites

Best is Nvidia Shield , but a £170 it should be !!
Best value is probably the Beelink Mini MXIII II ( some Ebay sellers have it at £40 delivered from the UK ). This is S905X box with 2GB ram ; 16GB storage ; bluetooth , 2.4 and 5g wifi and good firmware. Check out the reviews ( especially redskulls youtube review HERE )

That's disappointing, my reason for running a kodi box is simply that the built in players in my tvs simply don't play enough of the videos I have or don't play them well enough so they stutter or fail, but running kodi on windows seems to be perfect (of course it's got much more ram, processor speed etc) and of course, the other features ;) are interesting.

I've had four boxes and never had any trouble, so I must have been lucky I suppose, or maybe it's because i've re-flashed all of them almost immediately with either OpenElec or LibreElec, whichever one worked.

Check out the comments! Mine was a Beelink MiniMx III which failed as a poster said and a replacement of the MIniMX III Mk2 failed also. There seem to be quite a few unhappy campers. The review was posted by Gearbest anyway

I've don't have this box but just to give my experience with these boxes:

I would spend a bit more and go for 2gb ram. I still use a 1gb box in one room, and the speed difference is noticeable as Android does seem to have a lot of memory sapping services.
If you flash Libreelec 1gb runs lovely with no issues but you lose the facility to use Mobdro and Showbox .

I would stay clear of S905x and buy a S905 box (if you can find one). I have had both and the S905x suffers with a few issues (Google is your friend). The big thing for me is the brightness on the S905x is darker than S905.

No need for 16gb as 8gb is more than enough.

I would also install SPMC instead of Kodi.

Mini M8s S905 from gearbest is a good box at £35 usually takes 2 weeks delivery.

Just my opinion, hope it helps someone with their decision.

The KM5 (not km8) is made by the same company and only differs in colour, specs are identical. Other places show this remote as coming with this device. The launcher/home screen looks identical to the rupa a5 android box.

You can dual boot liberelec / android so best of both world's, all on a cheap 1gb box.

But why post reviews of a different product and a picture from another website. Stinks of dogeyness to me.

because i couldn't find a review for the mecool hm8 but it's the same as the km5 so it was relevant and your second point, i couldn't find a picture of everything in one pic so chose a pic from elsewhere. if you look at manufacturers site, you'll see that it comes with the remote that is pictured.

I abstained from voting hot or cold until now when I'm afraid I voted cold. Just because of the inaccuracies in the post. It may be a good deal but has holes in it!

I'm not bothered how you voted, I needed a cheap s905x box and this fit the bill. It should run liberelec
