Not the cheapest price for the game title (see TheHut.com [£37.93] or the TescoEntertainment.com links I provided in Comment #2 below), but the only offer that will include the Chris Ryan-penned prequel novel; an exclusive to pre-orders at HMV.

From the HMV Product Page:

Medal of Honor: Limited Edition - includes the exclusive Chris Ryan book "Medal Of Honor"

Operating under the National Command Authority, a relatively unknown entity of handpicked warriors is called on when the mission must not fail. They are the Tier 1 Operators. There are more than 2 million Americans who proudly wear the uniform, of which some 50,000 fall under the Special Operations Command. The Tier 1 Operator functions on a plane above and beyond even this select group. Their exact numbers, while classified, are believed to be in the low hundreds. They are living, breathing, precision instruments of war. They are experts in the application of violence.

Medal of Honor's gritty single-player campaign is inspired by and developed with actual Tier 1 Operators, and gives you the unique ability to step into their boots. Utilize the surgical skill set of these elite warriors -- in combination with the overwhelming force of the U.S. Army Rangers - to infiltrate enemy-held territories in the unforgiving battlefield conditions of Afghanistan. This unparalleled experience offers the most authentic and relevant combat to date.

Getting back to the core of heart-pounding, all-out action, Medal of Honor multiplayer plays out in close quarters where the individual player's skill is the most important tool for survival. Two teams of up to twelve players battle against one another on eight custom maps in the unforgiving mountains, valleys, and cities of Afghanistan. The unique game modes feature modern-day vehicles, realistic destruction, plus a weapon customization system that grants you access to hundreds of combinations of mods. When the battle is over, see how you stack up against other players on the game's skill-specific leaderboards.

Limited Edition Extra Content

MP-7 - Exclusively in the Limited Edition, is a weapon utilized by Tier 1 Operators in the field. With its light weight, high rate of fire as well as its ability to penetrate body armor, the MP7 handles like a pistol yet allows targets to be engaged like a rifle.

Spec Ops Class Camouflage - Players can don this unique camouflage to help them disappear into the environment as well as distinguish themselves from the other standard grunts.

Battlefield 3 Beta - receive an invitation to the beta* for another highly-anticipated EA shooter, Battlefield 3(tm). Battlefield 3 is the latest entry in the award-winning shooter franchise from DICE in Stockholm, Sweden.

Medal of Honor Frontline HD - Only for the PS3 version of the Limited Edition is the classic, Medal of Honor Frontline completely remastered in HD.

agreed not the cheapest but to get the novel for a few pounds instead of £10-£15 surely make this deal hot, well ive given hot

Thanks HybridTheory.

The deal initially went positive, & now sits at -9 degrees.

I'm expecting some dislike of Chris Ryan, perhaps, because of his post Special Air Services work, but not as controversial as Andy McNab, in my opinion.

Would cold voters please be kind enough to leave a comment to advise others why you consider this a poor deal?

Thanks.

Ah, yes, that may account for some negative voting as well. Thanks for the reminder.

Not me - i think its a reasonable offer. Although i tend to wait for price drops nowadays, but i guess this isnt going to be a title that drops anytime soon.

It depends if the controversy surrounding the "bad guys" turns people away from the game & the price has to drop for it to sell, or whether the Members of Parliament trying to ban the game are actually promoting it for free & indirectly causing more demand.

Yes Liam Fox was only likely to increase interest in the game.

There are no British troops to kill in this game, Fox's point is null and void.

Thanks FP, good 'deal' (_;)

I am quite looking forward to this, I don't see why playing as the Taliban is such a big deal to be honest. At the end of the day it is just a GAME, its not like buying this automatically enrols you into a terrorist training programme with a free ticket to Kabul.

Thank you.

I have great sympathy with those who have lost their friends & family within the Armed Forces due to the Taliban (& associated political movements) over the many years of conflict, but what you have said is indeed the counter(terrorism) argument to the opposition to the "Medal of Honor" title; somebody in games of this type (as well as games played in the playground, in back gardens, the park, and so on) rely on one side being the "goodies" (not Graeme Garden, Bill Oddie, & Tim Brooke-Taylor) & one being the "baddies".

Cowboys versus Indians (of the Native American kind),
Cops versus Robbers,
Humans versus Aliens,
Danger Mouse/Ernest Penfold versus Baron Silas Greenback/Stiletto Mafiosa,
Teenage Ninja Mutant Ninja Turtle-Pizza-Eating Samurai Cats (or whatever they are called) versus non-genetically modified (organic, & gluten free) opponents,
Mods versus Rockers,
Oasis versus Blur,
The Taxpayer versus The Government,
and so on.

As I have not read a fiction book for almost thirty years I would not be making use of this offer, but I hope it helped somebody who was (or now is) tempted to buy both the game & Chris Ryan's novel.

Have they improved the frame rate on this from the beta? Used to really enjoy MOH:AA but then COD took over as the dominant shooter. Be tempted to get this but the framerate on the beta was **** poor.

How would we know until we get a finished copy in our hands? It sounds like you're just too used to the slick speed of COD. That doesn't make other games inferior. Not all games want to move as if they're Burnout with guns on amphetamines.

COD set the standard but the online gameplay is great if your balls haven't dropped but compared to Bad Company 2, for example, it's pi$$ poor.

I'm hopeful that MoH has had the sense to morph together the best of both and with DICE involved things are looking positive.

FYI: "Beta Feedback: How You Helped Shape Medal of Honor’s Multiplayer" (Blog.US.PlayStation.com)
---
Posted by Matthew Pruitt // Community Manager, EA, 23 August 2010

The Medal of Honor beta is now closed and we want to thank you, PlayStation fans, for supporting us! The turnout was tremendous and we could not have asked for a better experience.

It is always great to do a true beta like this, because at the end of the day, this game is for you, the gamers. We received some amazing feedback and opted to extend the beta to make sure that we were able to hear as much of it as we could. Twitter, Facebook, and our forums have been blowing up with comments and we have been taking many notes.

We have learned a lot, and we wanted to take this opportunity to run down some of the major changes/fixes we have made to the game as a direct result of your feedback.

Improved Hit Detection

This was a very big issue and came up many times in the forums. We are glad to say that hit detection has been vastly improved. We really tightened up the mechanics and essentially, wherever the bullet hits on the body — that is where the hit registers. It is even possible to shoot and have the bullet go between someone’s legs – it is that precise!

Weapon Pickups

Out of ammo? No longer do you need to find an ammo crate. Find the nearest dead enemy/friendly and pick up their weapon. And remember, the knife knows no ammunition, so if you really want to be Tier 1 — pull out that bad boy and start slashing your way to victory.

Support Actions Balanced

We heard the outcry and we have made adjustments. The support actions were tweaked and are now more difficult to achieve. There is always a fine line between what is too hard and what is too easy, but we think we have balanced it pretty well. It is just not fun when you are getting nailed with rocket and mortar attacks every 20 seconds.

Unlock Tree Expanded and Balanced

Your ascension to Tier 1 status will now be even more eventful. The unlock tree has been expanded for every weapon, providing an extensive series of choices.

Crash Fixes

Every beta has its crashes and the Medal of Honor beta was no different. We know it is frustrating, but it is all part of the beta process. The good news is that we have fixed the crashes and resolved a number of connectivity issues.

Major Graphic Overhaul

The graphics have been overhauled and upgraded. We are happy to report that the game looks even more spectacular than before.

Weapons

The weapons are essential to gameplay, obviously, and we made sure to concentrate on getting them right. The list is long and the changes are many. From zoom spread to damage inflicted, rest assured that every weapon has been modified.

These changes and fixes are just the tip of the iceberg. As we move toward the game’s release, we continue to improve the game every single day.

Make sure you follow us on Twitter, fan us on Facebook, and visit us at the official website for up-to-the-date Medal of Honor news and information.

I personally ordered this as soon as I found out that Chris Ryan had backed it, and was writing a prequel story to accompany the pre-order. Cant wait for this title.

The author's backing is a fair point; he could have said 'no' I suppose.

PS. I added details of the book to the deal description earlier today:

Calm down? I ain't parting with £40 til it's better known whether the frame rate has improved or not. Was just wondering if anyone had read any recent reviews that was all, as when I had the beta the framerate (different to game speed) was the same as when you play split screen local games and felt a bit choppy.

By the way, I've not said it's inferior so stop putting words in my mouth. I've said that COD became the dominant shooter in the marketplace. Prior to getting an xbox and getting into COD I'd not played a war FPS since MOH:AA which was a fantastic game.

EDIT: cheers fanpages just seen the post, sounds like they might have sorted it then, just seems a bit vague on 'overhauled and upgraded'
