Price matching play.com

From a better retailer

Enjoy.

Will update thread if they do the same for the PS3 one.

Why is amazon better than play out of interest?

cos the stuff actually turns up when they say it will?

What is the problem with play?
Ive never had one bit of bother with them.

I can't understand how amazon and play both use the Royal Fail and yet Amazon's stuff turns up within two days of dispatch every time and play can be 5+ days - I know its Jersey blah blah, but HMV get it to me in two days in the same way Amazon does...that's why they're poorer in comparison for me...

Play have never caused me an issue...

Anyway, great deal. I guess the new Call of Duty must have ruined the sales of this!

Play always take at least a week to get stuff to me sometimes as long as 2 weeks. Amazon almost always within the week.

Great deal heat added <3

P.S I have two items that have not turned up from Amazon - estimates were 7th and 8th of December...
#11
I ordered 3 separate items from Play.com last monday, items all in stock & received dispatch email on wednesday so 48 hours later, even though site says should be dispatched within 24 hours. A week later I'm still waiting.

Over the past few weeks I've also bought stuff from Amazon, Gameplay & The Hut & all items arrived within 3 days, all with free delivery so if most other retailers can do it why not Play?
#12
Great price though, but if same price at Amazon & Play, I'll choose Amazon everytime.

Seems here, for something that was supposedly despatched on the 3rd.
I find Play and Amazon are about the same but Play offer quidco.

I always prefer Amazon due to their excellent after sales service. Play are rubbish at returns...They take ages to refund and you always have to pay return postage.

Yh like I need the heat lol. I already am fully repped, get to know.

Amazon is better for delivery and customer service period.

Free to return stuff back refund soon as item is back to them

Unlike play.com, stuff arrives really late, my experience had to wait 2 months for a refund.

Also if you do not check your statements properly sometimes they charge you twice for the same item, happened to me twice now.

Never been charged 2x by play for any order with them, 3-5 days delivery, refund dept are clueless refunding £1.47 when it cost you £6.24 to send back the item via special delivery co's goods were worth more than £32 but they do sort it out. Amazon however refunded me then charged me again for the item they refunded.

Play are not perfect and neither are Amazon but both are a lot better than most Hut run companies especially gifted.com . Ordered 3x 2100 M$ points . I had £25 credit with them and paid the balance . Items were in stock and are usually 24 hours etc. Ordered on the 26th of November 2010 and 4 messages to them to ask where my order is and this hut run company is telling me they have an issue with their supplier. FBs of a company.

I've ordered 3 things from Play and never had a problem.
Thing I don't like about Amazon is their underhand marketing techniques!
Too many "misprices" to often, and then not honouring it!

Didn't mean anything by what I said I just find it strange that you would put Amazon are a better retailer as I didn't know people had problems with Play. Also Play offer quidco.

I know mate, you meant well. Everyone can have their own opinion, its only fair.

It seems that all of use either have problems with one or the other. If it not Play.com its Amazon and vice versa.

But as some one said at least they are not as bad as Zavvi and The Hut, they seem to be hit and miss. But only thing that makes me keep going with Zavvi and The Hut is they somes time have excellent prices, price's sometimes you would not mind waiting for whole month before the item arrives lol.

I think we are agreed on Zavvi, bloody useless firm them! But yes they do have good prices sometimes but then if they don't hold stock and only buy it when they get orders then they have nothing to lose in that respect, which is probably why it takes so long to come!

Nice! I don't Play anymore! :p I Amazon! :D

nice price but wasnt some guy in the other thread saying that the LE one will be the same price sooner than later?

What does LE version for 360 offer that standard ed doesn't have ?

I know ps3 version includes HD* remake of frontline

I've had quite a few issues with my Play orders (one particular my copy of Football Manager, which I had pre-ordered a month in advance with them, still being processed 2 months AFTER release).

Amazon have never been a problem. Although my copy of Red Dead Redemption is taking an awful long time to get here (it was dispatched on the 6th).
#27
In all fairness, Plays delivery is ridiculously slow.

No one can say that for sure when it will be. Course it will be at some point but games have a limit how far they can fall in terms of price. It may be tomorrow, It may be next week it may be in two months no one knows!

Agreed! I had about a weeks post through the door in one day on Saturday! BACKLOG ANYONE? grrrr.
#31
play is Isle of Wight thou and they have had snow the same as us .... we didnt even get any post for 2 weeks so u cant use that as an argument.... I have bought from all the online stores and you cant blame the company for the postal service
#32
I would only ever buy off Play.com if they had an item on offer - Prince of Persia Trilogy at £17.99 instead of Amazon's £24+ price was too hard to pass up. And also, I am slightly **** off at them for their 'Black Friday' deals. They were crap. Promised to refuse to use their services again, and that lasted a whole....fortnight.

But I don't see what the problem is with them. They are actually quite good, and on occasion can beat Amazon in terms of delivery. It all depends on where you live, the time of order and what they are sending you.

For me, the best retailer by far is Shopto.net. The fastest delivery known to mankind - first class from them is ultra-super fast first class post. Almost as though they delivered it by airdrop. They really should fully sell DVD's, rather than a select bunch. They could probably do very well at it!

Just to note that all editions of MOH on PS3 have frontlines. I got regular and it has on the top right 'Frontlines included' (or something like that, haven't looked for a while!) which is quite surprising as it wasn't very well communicated in terms of availability of Frontlines. Thought it was T1 or LE, not all editions.

gotta love amazon - dispatched 20 minutes ago - play order from three days ago and a zavvi order from 6 days ago still waiting for dispatch, despite being in stock...
#36
In reply to the chuckle brothers, i.e. dtaylor21184 & Babbler Oh yes lets see now, our Amazon orders are late, how can that be? Ah, it must be bad old Royal Fail you rant. Well of course its going to fail to some degree if you take into consideration the double whammey of particularly bad weather and the fact that everyone and their dog is posting off xmas pressies by the s*it load at post offices. Half of England ground to a halt (again) followed by the central belt in Scotland (plus some airports) cause of the weather so there is now a massive backlog across the country. Wise up the lot of you, you haven't got a scooby about the massive networking task and the logistics involved to get your FREE delivery item from Amazon (and others).
