Very cheap indeed
#2
oopsies...forgot to add VAT...still...back in stock
#3
They haven't added vat yet so its the same deal, bit rude on the original poster.
#4
Sorry, but it's not cheaper. It's the same price.

You are looking at the business site rather than the personal site.

The business site is ex vat, and the persoanl site is inc vat.
#5
Site says not in stock after logging in but available before logging in. Can you please confirm if the deal still holds?
#6
aye...soz about the title...in the process of changing...its not showing as out of stock now

Iv used a Medion laptop before, Lasted less that 3 months.

To say the build quality was poor would be an understatement
#8
Did you get it exchanged under warranty?
#9
I have a Medion Desktop bought from Aldi 6 years ago and it has never missed a beat.
#10
What do you mean 'lasted' less than three months. Did it explode or run away? My dad bought an Audi A5 just before Christmas which broke down during the first week. To say Audi's build quality is poor is an understatment.

Ive upgraded the RAM on a few...seem ok to me...you buy for your needs at the end of the day :) ...sorry about the double post though...it doesnt seem to be expired on the site though

This is a duplicate post from Xmas day.
I order one on Xmas day and it was in stock, but the lady on the phone has just told me it was a clearance ite,. It went out of stock before 23rd Dec. They tried to update their site to reflect this nut obviously the site update did not happen. So, even though I ordered one within a few hours of the post on xmas day, looks like myself and > 100 others will not be receiving one.

Barstewards. Had been looking forward to that for the past 4 days!

Seems a bit strange that as I ordered on Xmas Day but there was a problem with my card (egg thought it must have been stolen due to all the transactions!!) Anyway Viking rang me today and I gave them my card details and she said it would be sent in the next few days.

Email received today after ordering on 26th:

"I would like to apologise unreservedly for the disappointment and inconvenience caused by our inability to fulfil orders for the Medion MD96698 and our slow initial response to the issue.

On Friday 19th December we significantly reduced selling prices online for 4 laptops in order to clear stock before the end of the year. We advertised this to a portion of our regular customers. In the case of the MD96698 there were more than 200 in stock. Prior to Christmas demand was around 20-30 units per day.

We thought we had removed this offer from our home page prior to the Christmas break but, significantly, we did not remove the page within the site. It was still possible to order via URLs posted on HotUKDeals and similar sites on Christmas day or through product searches. This led to many orders being placed over the public holidays whilst our offices were closed for which we were not prepared and could not monitor.

Our website is normally linked to real-time stock availability and would show ‘out of stock’ when all the laptops were sold. In this case we had configured our systems to fulfil from a specific warehouse (where all the stock happened to be) which appears to have had the effect of overriding the real time availability safeguard. Our website therefore processed orders assuming that stock was available even after it had been exhausted. This was a failure of our system and should not have happened.

Together, the system error and unprecedented demand led to orders being accepted for stock which simply was not there and in many cases monies debited. This is plainly unacceptable, and we are very sorry this error occurred.

Operating a skeleton staff over the holiday period (traditionally a very quiet time for us) meant that we were slow to identify the problem, slower than we should have been to fix it and slow to get the right information to our customer service teams. This meant that we did not always give the correct information to customers in a timely manner for which I’m deeply sorry.

As I priority I will ensure that where a laptop has not been despatched then refunds are made as quickly as possible. I hope to complete that within the next 24 hours. We will be refunding the amount paid plus an additional £20 to allow for any charges or interest that you may have incurred.

We are also looking as to whether we can source further MD96698 machines or offer a similar alternative. My product buyers are working on that now and we will let customers know what we propose to do and deal with all cases as quickly as possible.

We hope to contact all customers personally by phone. In the meantime we have set up a free phone helpline on 0800 197 0997 connected to a team of specialists who know more about this issue and are best placed to help. The lines are open from 9:00am to 6:30pm.

Once again I am very sorry, not only that an error occurred and we accepted orders that we were unable to fulfil, but that we were unprepared to deal with the situation quickly over the holiday period. I appreciate that this has left many people inconvenienced and angry.

I will write to you again soon with more information.

Kind regards"
