These Aldi offers are only appriciated by a very small number of Hot UK members (basically Aldi customers) :)

It is a nice machine but I think it is overpriced.

Look at Ebay Argos, refurbished Medion item 360284762885 - spec is better in some areas (RAM), worse in others and costs £294. A £200 saving.

Or item 350363941609, same price, bigger screen, more RAM

Sony

HP

I know they dont have dedicated graphics, but that's my opinion

That one doesn't have a dedicated gfx card. This one will be substantially better. Perhaps not £200 better, but certainly in a different league.

What good is a half-decent graphics card with a low-res screen and weedy (celeron dual-core equivalent) processor? Small HDD, low RAM, 32-bit windows....The only justification for the price perhaps is the warranty; but I doubt that's worth the premium.
After reading the Aldi mail-shot earlier I was surprised to see this posted as a deal ;-)
Aldi don't seem to be giving such good deals on electricals lately; maybe at £400 this would be a HOT deal.

Oh, I never said it was a hot deal. Just that the graphics card was miles better. For £500 I'd be going for nice i3 or i5 machine at the Dell outlet!

Sorry wasn't meaning to get at you (_;)

You're right that for £500 you can pick up an i3, i5 or even i7 machine at Dell outlet - in my case I gave up waiting for the perfect deal and got an i5 XPS 16 with 1080p and Blu-ray writer for £575; I really wanted the back-lit keyboard of the XPS; but there've been some cheaper deals for Studio or Inspirons lately.

Aldi have reduced these now to £349.
