Hi Rayman, Good find. PRMUSICKEY4 doesn't seem to work via their web-site. Perhaps this is for phone and fax orders only?.

Wonder what this is like compared to the Targa 1720 MT34 that's on sale for £499.00 at Lidl?.
Main differences that immediately come to mind are ATi Video Card with 128Mb as opposed to ATi Video Card with 256Mb and Single Core as opposed to Dual Core.
Think that the Viking-Direct offering is better value for money however both machines are competitively priced for 17" models.

Voted hot.

Which one is dual core? I could be misreading the specs but both look single core to me.

The difference in graphics card doesn't really mean anything, both are integrated so neither are capable gaming machines.

Thanks for pointing that out :santa: The Mp3 player is A32-PRMUSICKEY4 which I've now corrected in the original post :santa:

Hi, Apologies. I'd got confused with the Viking-Direct flyer that'd arrived through the post. Thought that it'd said that there was a Turion X2 CPU but having checked again there's not. Both good buys though IMHO.

Kind Regards.

No need to apologise, I wasn't sure either!

I agree they are good buys, I think there's been a big gap in the market because the assumption is that people only buy 17 inch machines for performance whereas there are definitely people who would prefer a larger screen but not necessarily 3D performance. The Dell 9300 and 9400 meet this criteria but not that cheap - only thing that would put me off these ones is the single core processor, but it depends on your needs.

Hi, Think that I agree with you here. Being a single core processor puts me off considering buying one of these from Viking-Direct or Lidl. Good budget buy though (for a machine with a 17" screen). Other than the processor being single-core the specification is pretty good.

Kind Regards.

1Gb RAM is really just for super budget laptops these days. It's really not nearly enough to run Vista and all your other standard apps. Cold from me.

Cold, terrible specs for the price.
