However, not listed but plenty of stock in my local store (Shirley, Solihull) was a small/light 500Gb 2.5" external HDD drive with £20 knocked off. 3 year warranty too! They also had full size 1Tb drives for £79.99 though no reduction claimed and I don't think that's such a good deal.

There's limited stock on these deals so be quick if you want one.

PS Just checked in my local Tesco and they want up to £89.99 for the same size 2.5" HDD!

good deal

That offer will be only if your local Aldi happen to have one left over. No way to find out before you make the journey, but if you live near by, might be worth popping in.

And therein lies the problem - no Aldi has a published telephone number, so all you can do is drive over and just hope. That's fine if its on your route anyway, but its 15 miles to my nearest and 18 miles to the next, in the opposite direction. It only takes a couple of wasted journeys to wipe out any savings you might make!

Yes, but when you get to the first one you can then get them to ring the other store and check if they have any stock.

Good luck in getting one. I have seen fights over these in several Aldis when the doors open in the morning. People will go in an buy the lot up to sell on. I rarely bother with the place these days because of this.

I picked up the 1Tb full size drive at Sheffield (St Mary's Gate) at the weekend, reduced to £49.99 from £79.99. It slots into a bay on top of the Medion PC I bought last year. I also got a 19" TFT monitor reduced to £49.99 (no HDMI). They had a couple of reduced laptops but I didn't take note of which ones.

This thread mentions reduced desktops but I couldn't see any on the Aldi site - anyone know any more?

seen the lidl/aldi ads fairly often state what drive is inside..nothing for this?

the 79.99 thing is new so not clearance - has esata too though still probably not a great deal

I understand the various negative points made here but all I can say is that this clearance appears to be nationwide (printed leaflets in store and website coverage) and my local store had a stack of them at 4pm today so they hadn't gone in a rush first thing. Medion stuff at Aldi has a 3 year warranty too!

No, I probably wouldn't bother if my nearest store was 20+ miles away either but plenty of people live nearby and it may be worth a look if they are interested.

Desktops were described as 'Back to School' machines (as were some of the laptops) but I'm afraid I didn't investigate any further. Generally this is pretty high spec stuff.

Just picked up the one of the 500GB hard drives from Cradely Heath, was one left about half an hour ago....

Cheers for the heads up OP :-)

Went into my local Aldi (Solihull) today (Friday) at 3pm. and they had loads of the laptops (a 15" and two different 17" models).

They also had a desktop (AMD) for £399.

They also have an Intel Pentium E5700 desktop coming in this Sunday for £379

The one I bought reduced to £49.99 also has esata and looks just like the one they are advertising on their site for £79.99 - so maybe I just got lucky!

Just been to fleetwood aldi, scanning at £58.99! so your lucky if you managed to get one at £39.99

seems like the price for the drive is dicated by the store manager, and not a head office national price. the Bathgate store has them in but selling at £49.99

A few left in Redditch. The actual drive inside mine is a Seagate Momentus

Great deal I thought.

One of the biggest pieces of bull I've ever read on here! Just call their head office. They are extremely helpful and will tell you where stock exists. I've found them to be very accurate in the past:

08444 068800 (not sure if a physical equivalent exists)

The store I bought from has now sold out but neighbouring store has plenty - at full price (£54.99). What a strange way of operating!
