That's why I posted it- for members comments - a cracking price for a 17" screen with an I3 processor and most important the Hybrid Hard Drive . I'll await members comments before deciding whether to buy .

I suppose its all down to build quality and manufacturers aftersales service as all the components in all laptops are externally sourced .It all depends on how they're put together .

Medion are very good and are also the electronics brand that Aldi sell. They use branded components and are assembled in Germany. We have the earlier version of this laptop, it's used constantly and still working well after 4 years of use. I would recommend and will be buying another when needed

+1 for this - build quality puts some of the bigger manufacturers to shame. Good deal OP!

"Hybrid drives are storage devices that combine NAND flash solid-state drive (SSD) with hard disk drive (HDD) technology, with the intent of adding some of the speed of SSDs to the cost-effective storage capacity of traditional HDDs. The purpose of the SSD in a hybrid drive is to act as a cache for the data stored on the HDD, by keeping copies of the most frequently used data on the SSD for improved overall performance".
I had to look this up because I had never heard of them!

Maybe try 6.3% Topcashback worth £25-13 or 4% cashback from Quidco - extra £15-96 worth it if it goes through......

Bought one about 8 years ago (Sainsburys), maybe more - can't remember, but it's still in the family, grandkids have got it, still going strong and never had a problem with it - not with build or performance or any problem at all really.

Not so sure they are still made in Germany tho'.

SSHD makes the spec hot from me - was looking for something like this last month, but couldn't find any options whatsoever in this price bracket (nor a lot more!). For those interested: generalised comparison of performance between different drive types:

Medion build good laptops and PCs often putting in good components in terms of cpu, vga, memory, etc.

However, I would never buy a Medion laptop again as the weight is often like carrying dumb-bells around with you - they may have fixed this - and, worse, they often have fans that sound like 747s taking off. I had one, admittedly many years ago now, that was unbearable to use because the fan noise was deafening.

For some reason they don't seem to think that deafening fans are a problem? Ido.
