Not at all. It's not a computer, no processor, OS etc. It's just a screen. Second it's much much bigger. Not to mention cheaper.

I think it's hot.

btw maddogb, nice avatar picture. Is it your dog?
#9
what is it then?
what do you do with it?
#10
Does this have "handwriting" recognition? Could you write with a stylus on the screen and somehow have it convert to text?

It's just a screen, as in a PC monitor which you can connect to a PC base unit or other gadgets to output them to the screen.

This monitor would probably be ideal for windows 7 touchscreen facility, not that I've tried it but maybe others on this forum may be able to give an opinion on this.

does office 10 have touchscreen capability

does office 10 have touchscreen capability

doesn't the touching essentially move the mouse cursor about?

but if anything is going to I guess office might? what with MS making Win 7 and MS making office?

edit: im pretty sure you only need touch 'support' for stuff like multi touch :)
#14
Yeah you just touch the screen instead of moving the mouse. A pain if you want to do anything serious with the computer but would be good for casual use, e.g. jukebox at a party.

Good price voted hot

think thats an old model and can confirm manual states hdcp on both hdmi and dvi interfaces

Wow, multi-touch. Ignore what I said above about it being just like a mouse then. Multi-touch does things a mouse doesn't.

All it does is really replicate CTRL + OR - for pinch zoom which is laziness more than anything. Expect a godawful panel if you plan on buying this

If you're using it with Win7 (assuming it has a proper Win7 driver) then you'll be able to use handwriting recognition as it's part of the o/s,

If it's a proper Win7 driver (which I assume it is) then Windows will emulate things like single mouse click and Ctrl+MouseWheel for non-touch aware applications, but if an application is touch aware then it can use the touch data as it sees fit to give a much nicer experience.

I want... but don't need. It's a lot of money to splurge on something that's effectively just another gadget for me. :-/

I can't think of any reason why people would need to have a touch screen 21 inch monitor. Mouse and keyboard works just fine. :?
I can see the use of any ipad / dell streak / tablet pc but a 21 inch touch screen monitor for computer is simply strange and of not much use...

"Kiosk" type devices (kitchen PCs, media centres etc) or developers developing touch screen apps/WP7 applications.

General use I agree though, not that much use. I have a 24" MultiTouch monitor but it's just used for developer testing of MultiTouch code.

POST 4 "Dumfries",
mine also had 199.99 stickers on as well as the 169.99 so just assumed they had been reduced further

Maybe a pricing error in that store. My manager went in the office and checked on his computer.. it's £199.99 nationaly.

Perhaps they stuck £169 on it by accident then had to sell it at that price, Other people will confirm hopefully.
