Yes that is a first gen i3 not worth £199 IMO.
I had the mouse sticking/ unresponsive issue.
I changed from an XPS Dell and couldnt adjust to the cheap plasticky flimsy feel to it although accepted that it is only £300 so understandable.
I removed the bloatware and it still didnt "feel" any quicker than my core2duo Dell.
USB3 was real quick for transferring files to a USB3 pen.
I stuck a £40 128gb SSD in my old Dell since and it feels like a new laptop!
The Medion is a better specification on paper, but build quality is poor and Medion CS is appaling should you have a problem.
The Toshiba is a better build quality, slower processor, no usb 3.0 or blu-ray but does have double the HDD compared to the Medion. I've had 5 of the medions (without blu-ray) for various jobs and found they performed no better than late P4 sandybridge chipsets and first gen core i3's. I also have a similar 1st gen Toshiba that I prefer. So for £299.99 it just depends on what the user would be buying it for and what interests them the most.
To say the Toshiba is only worth £199 is daft IMO unless you can point us all as to where we would be buying them from?

Build quality on C660 is poor. That Argos Toshiba deal is a bad deal. Speaking from experience as a laptop refurbisher and seller of laptops.

But the Toshiba is still a reasonable buy and the build quality is no worse than the medion, i've had experience with both models and also in the same line of business as yourself. Neither are high end quality but for basic computing are fine.

Didn't go for that deal in the end; I went for a Fujitsu Lifebook deal from Dabs instead. It arrived this morning and I am using it to type this message. Very fast computer, I must say.
