A lot of people on this site would beg to differ. Many people have enjoyed trouble-free computing from their Medion machines. Their customer service may be a little basic, I'll grant you that, but this ain't too terrible for the price.

I've had one PC and three laptops from Medion. Started with ALDI but all the laptops came direct. Always got excellent technology for the price I was paying. Yes none matched the design of, say, a Sony Vaio, but the extra design features aren't worth the extra cost, and I don't need the boom box speakers HP are pushing. The latest laptop is this bargain but for £430 - still a fantastic buy and a real pleasure. Screen is especially good, keyboard and touch pad good quality and it's coped with a huge amount of office and home applications I've chucked on in the last two weeks. Only downside is the psu which gets hand-hot, to the extent that it made a comforting heat pad fpr my back when sat in the kitchen the other day. If you want a desktop replacement laptop and want to work with a bigger, brighter screen get one - it takes three days for it to you get to you from Germany but you'll not regret it.

Hey, I notice on Quidco, that there's £20 off orders above £400 and 4% quidco cashback. Assuming that's all true, then that would make this laptop £391.95 - 4% pre-vat price, which makes it around £379 for a Core i5 with discrete graphics card and 1600x900 screen. That's not too shabby.

Think the code for £20 off has already been included in the original post

in 2010, buying this would make some sense.

oh and btw, for all those that wow on the discrete GPU, GT330m is on par with HD4000 iGPU.

Bargain, my p6624 is still going stong after 2 years. Battery is about half the capacity it used to be though but its on every day.

How does this deal get such Heat, when my deal, listing a Samsung 15" second-generation i5 laptop for £349, or Lenovo i5 laptop for £399 gets barely any heat ?

"oh and btw, for all those that wow on the discrete GPU, GT330m is on par with HD4000 iGPU"

yeah but 330m can be opened up for cuda to help cs5 or cs6 premiere for instance, however
the first gen i5 is no better than 2nd gen i3 which can be found for similar money but with usb3
included, but without 1600 x 900 resolution. decisions decisions.
medion driver support used to be a mare but i stopped fixing pcs a couple of years ago,
they may have sorted their act out now.

GPU is 330m , modern (slightly more expensive) laptops will have a 630m. Ive seen I5 deals for £350 on here, so if buying on the basis of the descrete gpu - it wont be that future proof for you.

It is by no means a bad purchase by the way, just older generation of GPU may prove a let down for some.

Would be interested if it had a backlit keyboard. No good to me without :(

I had this laptop for Christmas last year it was reduced in Sainsbury’s down to £300 with a friends 10% discount I paid £270 it’s a fast laptop for the price I was happy. It played world of warcraft on a low-medium settings as long I did not try and do anything big raids etc.

The only problems I found was the Laptop got very hot after a few hours on. The plastic around the screen started to peel back but you could not really notice it the Laptop has 4g of Ram but the Laptop had the 32 bit Windows installed (Means you could not use all 4g) they also include in the price a piece of foam that goes in between the screen and keyboard to save your screen from being scratched by the keys....

(I never used the foam and I couldn’t see any marks on my screen)

I sent the laptop back after 8 months and bought an Alienware as I wanted a machine that could run my games on ultra...

I'm confused, I posted an i5-480m 17.3" 1600x900 screen gt540m, blu ray laptop from medion for £385 ( which I currently own) only weeks ago and it didn't go above 50°… I m sad :(

Decent value for the price in my opinion. The screen size and resolution are good at this price point and the dedicated graphics are a nice touch, though not the most powerful in the world. Also DX10 which may be an issue for some.

    Where's the link?
    That sounds good.

Hmmm. . . it has a matte screen, worth a perusal methinks.

What's their usual screen quality like?

Why does this have so much heat? i5-430M? It's a netbook processor.
