Today, when I returned a faulty laminator to ALDI that I had bought in December 2007 I was told they only Guarantee goods for 30 days and I had to send the laminator to the manufacturers.
BE WARNED!

This has a 3 year guarantee.

This has a 3 year guarantee.

It doesn't.
It has a 30 day guarantee.
The laminator also said it had a 3 year guarantee and the person who told me it was ALDI's "Company policy" to only G'tee goods for 30 days was wearing an "Area Supervisor" name badge.
Now, who do you think i believe?
You or their Area Supervisor?
If you have probs after 30 days you have to send it back to the manufacturer.

It is a genuine Medion 3-year warranty - I have a medion from Aldi, bought 3-years ago and has needed a new motherboard and a new hard drive!! All on warranty - but the inconvenience is not worth it - they have a 0870 number and the person guides you through 'diagnostics' - 20 minutes!! Switch off and hold the switch in for 2 mins to get rid off static - can you call me back? No, not allowed. Tell me all the things you wan tme to do and when I have done them I will call back - can't may go through to somone else - hold on - pay.

If other find reliability ok, then I will believe this was a one-off - what experience have others had with Medion NOT ALDI.

I saw this in computeractive yesterday, unfortunately I didn't think it was particularly Hot, mainly because old style pentium dual core, good spec with hdmi output if you need it and 3 gig of ram, fair price for a fair spec.

yep ALdi one is a decent price. 9600 graphics would have made it a fabulous deal.

Its not a bad spec for the money but I have my doubts with the reliability and quality of Medion products. A friend had a Medion PC (desktop) and the modem failed, customer services were useless so he asked me for help. I had a spare modem from my pre-ADSL days so i popped round to fit it.

The PC case was booby trapped, it was so poorly made that the edges of the case inside the PC side panel were razor sharp. Managed to slice my finger twice just getting the old modem out. Blood everywhere. I have worked on PC's for years and never found a dangerously sharp case before or since.

I say AVOID

i have a medion lappy, and to be honest i wouldnt touch medion again, mine was quite expensive and is 2 year old and its falling apart, new motherboard needed at 11 months due to usb port coming loose, battery crackered after 13 months and totally refused to do anything, now use it plugged in unless i pay £60 for a new battery, casing loose as hell, dont really expect it to last much longer, and it cost me £800 just over two years ago

I'm pretty sure it's their responsibility to send it back to be repaired for up to a year (possibly longer) after you've purchased it. Check these links to help you out:

There's a non 0870 UK Medion Support Tel No. If you have an inclusive UK call package it won't cost you a penny to use it...I've used it without problems and had great support from Medion with little need to call them (dud wireless keyboard of all things). Anyway here's the number: 01793715698. (obtained from www.saynoto0870.co.uk)

I bought a Medion Akoya near the start of this year from Aldi. Presonaly I wouldn't recomend it. This notebook has a 3 year warranty, I have had mine for just over 3 months and it has already started acting odd.

The other day the fan started making a weird noise that now sounds like a car engine.
The DVD player is not keeping up with the speed of the DVD, I know it's not the DVD cause I have used it on my parent's laptop.
My WMP won't load the songs i burn on to the Medion Akoya.
I keep recieving Virus warnings, yet I have ran several Virus checks and no infected files have been found.

I paid £499.99 for a laptop that would last a minimum of 3 years, it has not lasted 3 months. It has been suggested from friends that know more about computers than me that I take this up with Medion, but after reading post from other buyers of this notebook if Medion will replace it
