...even worse, saw the last one of these in my local Sainsburys this morning but didn't recognise it for the bargain it appear to be. No price, no ticket so I didn't check it out properly... oh well.

Just what I was trying to decide. Where is the proof? Did you see it insotre in which case it might have been a local deal. Too many people are too keen to click the hot button these days.

Very Good deal it true..

Doe. People are too eager to ask questions these days without reading the post more carefully.

If they have them in boxing day I'm bagging one.
#23
Fantastic price, decent spec for under £300. If I had the cash, I'd buy one of these for my mum.
#24
Not open boxing day in newcastle!
#25
I guess that this is the first of many outstanding bargains to appear over the next few weeks, will check it out in my local store when it opens.
#26
Voted cold - why?

Because you'll have to live near Worthing to get one!

I'm tired of seeing these so called hot deals that only exist in one place!
#27
The only thing that kills it is that it's a Medion.
#28
Nice find live only 8 miles away so will check it out not open boxing day though, hope they had plenty left:thumbsup:

Bought a Medion laptop back in 2002 and the only thing HOT about it was the laptop itself, which would blow uncomfortably hot air out the vent on the right side onto your hand, then eventually get so hot it would switch itself off ! In six years it's had its motherboard replaced 4 times, cd-rw replaced 4 times and HD replaced 3 times. Personally I'll avoid medion like the plague.

That said, the P4 processor range in that laptop was known to produce quite a lot of heat, and things have moved along quite a bit since then, so maybe this will be fine and that was just a faulty model (although mastercare insisted otherwise; it's cost them at least £2k in repairs according to the service reports).

It's a good price for the spec... though personally I'll not take any more chances going for a cheaper brand laptop to get higher specs.

went into the local sainsburys here (wigan) on the 22nd and looked briefly for a laptop in the tv/DAB/ipod/digi camera section and did not see this. I wonder if its being brought in just as a sale item?
#32
Is there any hotline to check this out?

at 11pm on christamas eve? doubt it:thumbsup:

1 year G'tee at Sainsbury, 3 at Aldi.
I'd think about the diference and see if Aldi are going to reduce it too.
#35
how the hell can it be a budget make when they dont produce any of the parts.alls medions ive seen use branded parts.

intel,samsung,msi,seagate.
banned#36
someone check this out when sainsburys reopen, and let us know if its true, n nationwide?

"someone check this out when sainsburys reopen, and let us know if its true, n nationwide?"

Please report back when you have done so.
#38
Will give my local a ring on whatever dey they re-open as my sister needs a laptop, will look into the specs later but with this many replies and at this price, you cant go wrong!
#39
I have to say for a low-value brand selling laptops at this reduced price range is a absolute bargain. Just look at the specifications of the laptop. Although, Medion is quite a big name in Germany but across Europe Eastern Europe, North America and the Asian-Pacific region have become important target markets as well. Medion do use branded parts from other manufacturers as most of their products are OEM products. Even the some of the reviews have given a good thorough test. So for those who are looking at the value price range & can't wait then this is a good deal. At the end of the day, you pay for what you get.

Aldi do occassionally sell the Medion range themselves as most of their electrical products come with 3 years warranty, now that's a bargain for customer support.

Yep - those folks better get their car out quick on Friday - race down to Worthing and get the one that might still be sitting on the shelf!
