voted cold, you see 500 gig for not much more on here all the time, sorry.

Voted hot. It's a 250Gb laptop drive with no external psu unlike the 500Gb for the same price.

Sainsbury want an overpriced £119 for a similar drive by Maxtor - now that is a COLD price!

Tempted to pick one up.

Yes, but they are the 3.5" ones with external power supply.
Oh neh0 beat me to it

just trying to give an explanation as to why i was voting cold, the extra 250 makes a real difference imo, better than no explanation considering how cold it is in here.

you are not comparing like with like tho, comparing a portable with a non portable product

Thats why its gone cold people just reading the title

this just shows how narrow minded and misinformed people are on this site. 49.99 is an excellent price for a USB powered drive. and anyone will agree that if this meets your storage needs you will be very happy not to have an additional power supply draped across your desk or workstation! hot deal!

Hot deal, I bought a 160gb for the same price a few months ago. I wonder how long it'll take before the 500gb 2.5" will drop to £50 lol.

Seems a wee bit bizarre for Aldi to sell it for £34.99 and then sell it for £15 more and call it a Special Buy the following month. :whistling:

These were never advertised @ £34.99, last time they were put on sale at £59.99 but unsold drives were sold off in store at discounted prices. leroy owen was definately lucky to get one at this price, in Wolverhampton the were discounted down to £49.99 and this was posted here on HUKD http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/223664/medion-drive-n-go-portable-2-5-250g/

These drives go on sale tommorow and I was planning to buy one, but now I'm not so sure. The voting on this has been icy cold and I want to know what's so wrong with this deal before shelling out my money. Can someone tell me where I can get a better / cheaper portable drive. 250 GB is more than adequate.

There is nothing wrong with it, people vote cold for no valid reason.;-)

It's a bit of an unknown quantity I suppose.

Also Amazon have the Freecom Classic at the same price: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Freecom-Mobile-Drive-Classic-250GB/dp/B000Y7V846/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1225306283&sr=1-26

Which is a better bet IMO.

A mate bought 4 (!) and let me have a look at one and it's a neat little drive.

Went to Aldi to buy one and they'd sold out !

Apparently Tesco have/had 250Gb Maxtors for the same price so might try to get one of them now.
