Found my local currys with these satnavs for £39. I bought the same unit for £60 odd at Tesco during that great Tesco satnav bonanza of last year(cant remember exact month).

Anyway the satnav is pretty decent and for the money u cant go wrong. Runs on windows CE so if ur that way inclined you could install Tomtom software. I'll try and add photo ASAP but google it and you should find the pics, info etc.

Excellent Unit and voted Hot!!

I have one of these and they are great. I have Tom Tom Software but didn't know you could install TomTom on this unit. Anyone know how this is done?

#5
If it has windows CE, surely you can install Tomtom.
#6

I bought this unit from Currys for £50 last year - it does a decent enough job - occassionally takes me somewhere strange, but then so does the missus.....

US maps need around 2GB, this one has only 256MB internal memory. Not sure if thats expandable.
#12
these are end of line but if you can get one its a great price

being windows ce you should be able to run tomtom navigator

Yep, it has an MMC/SD slot for larger maps

I bought it from Curry's last year when it was £50odd, good little unit with 7-digit postcode search. I haven't used any other's to get a frame of reference, but the maps seem good enough, only twice had an error where either the road wasn't on the map (i was on an obviously new bypass at the time) or another where the map deviated from the actual course of the road. Also has a TMC port if you want to buy a traffic aerial for it, and comes with a trial of POI Warner that gives you speedcam warnings.

You can do US maps by loading up just the state that you need.

I have found that the US maps that come from the same source as the TomTom software  are a bit out of date.

Had one of these but sold it after a week - utter rubbish. The visual were sayiong go one way and the voice another...even ''tried' so send me the wrong way down a one way street!! - good job it was on a test run that i already knew the roads!! - shocking!!

Ive you're gonna get a satnav then just invest a bit more into it and you'll get something decent...this aint!!

Sorry mate but been using mine regularly and once in while yes it might say turn left when it means bear left. I've used Navman and its done the same to me. Its pretty accurate and i've lent it to 2 people who've used it to get to somewhere they'd neva eva been before. I've heard of many tomtom users saying tomtom is ****-Hell tomtom was even on BBC watchdog for giving the occassional wrong directions.

For the occasional user like myself and others its perfect, BUT for the salemen amongst us who drive a lot for a living then i suggest a Garmin costing £200+ or similiar!

Bwahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

Better off with a Navigo for £55 delivered from Ebuyer and whack TT7 on it.

These are probably Windows CE Core, not the full app, which means it will only boot into the expected application on the memory card.

I tried it on mine ... not a Medion tho
#24
I bought a similar Medion one through here when Medion's website had one for £39.99.

It's AWFUL, I would never recommend a Medion sat nav to anyone. The three times I wanted to use it in the space of two months and it got us COMPLETELY lost, several times on the same trip! And we're not talking short trips here, I mean a 250 mile round trip for one and a 60 mile trip each way for the other. The first one took us up and down the same stretch of the M11 THREE TIMES before I gave up, pulled over, whipped out my BlackBerry Curve 8310 and let my passenger use Google maps to get us there :p

Never again....

You pulled over on the M11 to whip your phone out ?

#28
Ok, it was a service station on the M11, but close enough :p

Also, forgot to mention, I dunno if it applies to this model, but mine is the version where the vast majority of the Windows CE core has been removed so it only works with the software it comes with.

In other words, in no simple terms, no TomTom :)

Last time I looked there were 4 points on the compass - N S E W - you should get a job producing Sat Nav maps with your logic! ;-)
