be aware, that the cpu does not have the horsepower to run vista, buy it with the intention of wiping it and installing XP.

The Celeron is fine with Vista if you get another 1GB of RAM. More important is that they don't say which graphics adapter is inside. If it's Intel 945 then it's no good for Vista. Will you get the drivers for XP though? Should make sure from Medion web site before purchase.

Fallacious.

The Celeron 5xx series is a rebadged Core 2 Solo. It's a single-core Merom and has EM64T so are 64-bit capable.

1GB of RAM will run Vista adequately. 512MB is enough to run Vista - it's not quick, but it will run Avira, Firefox, Word and Excel together well enough, so 1GB will be fine for general use.

No matter the graphics card, Vista will run. If you're talking about the Aero effects, the laptop comes with Vista Basic so doesn't have Aero enabled anyway (though it is possible with a registry tweak). This laptop has a "VIA Chrome9 HC TM DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB shared memory" which will be fine for Aero.
