Stingy hard drive size. Don't all Medions come with a 36 month warranty card inside (the one I got from Aldi had one inside which you send off to Medion), or is this something just exclusive to Aldi?

To the best of my knowledge its 12 months only from Medion but I could be wrong. Your right on the hard drive but very easy to swap out as is the RAM upgrade. :-D

And it runs Windows 7 sweet. (if you have a copy you can put on of course!!!)

I have heard that XP runs far better on netbooks than Windows 7, no?

On the netbook front, I was quite attracted to this deal: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/624795/refurbished-samsung-n130-netbook-fo

I have been running Win 7 on a net book since the first Beta release, IMHO 7 is far better for what I use it for. Internet (penguin club for little one) hotukdeals for me!! and MS office applications. May not be the case for everyone though.

As for the other system your looking at, I cant offer an intelligent response. There is a legend in the form of Scotty Boy on here or someone of similar stature that can help with your dilemma!!

The warranty on Medions is 12 months unless bought at Aldi when it is 3 years
I have the Samsung N130, it's great. Though this Medion is OK I think
the Samsung is a better deal and cheaper too.

If you are happy with a refurb then I'd go for the Samsung. I did a LOT of research before I bought my netbook and Samsung always did well in tests with good reliability. Saying that though there are plenty of people that love the Medion machines. :?
