Are MEDION® PCs reliable?
#2
oops sorry all - I did search but didnt get anything back.

Aldi/Lidl used to make half decent PCs at low prices but it's no longer the case. They make good PCs still and support them fairly well but the prices aren't that competitive anymore. You're better off just paying for a brand and from a computer/technology shop! My dad's had two medion PCs, one is in pieces (power cut killed it) and the other seems fine...if you can put up with the noise when it gets busy!

Are MEDION® PCs reliable?

I own a Medion computer from Aldi and I know two other people who bought the same. One was DOA and swopped and all three broke down at some stage during the first 2 years (graphics card, power supply, etc.). The service was slow (they use a local service) and two broke down again within a third year. I would not call this reliable. Service is expensive (telephone call). I'd look for something else even if a bit more expensive.

Hi,they use well known branded hardware, not like some.
You will always find someone who wants to knock a PC manfacturer, will post.Peeps with a good experience normally are less likely to post,CBA etc.

Join this forum if you want to know anything about Medion PC's(mainly from Aldi):-

http://www.medionsupport.com/phpbb2/portal.php

All PC's can break down, have probs etc.Even if you build it yourself.

Cheers BOB

ps you will find most peeps are happy with Medion service(it certainly looks OK at the moment).
If you buy another make etc.Check out there service first(as much as you can google),from first hand experiences.
With time things change,so try to get latest views.
You will always get someone who as had a prob,or as something against a company etc(rightly or wrongly).

These are not MADE by Aldi / Lidl but by Medion.

Medion started as a company who would make PCs to push through the "grocery" retail market (Aldi, Lidl etc) although I now think they sell under their own brand name.

When I checked a year or so back they seem to be German based, although they now have a UK web site and a UK presense, so support may be better than in the past.

Here is their UK site: http://www.medion.co.uk/

I think they also sell direct to public from here: https://www.medionshop.co.uk/

I bought a Medion about 6 years ago from Lidl, excellent value at the time and it is still going strong with the help of some extra ram and an external hard drive. Just given it to the kids to use after picking up an new Dell thanks to an eagle eyed HUKD'er.

I can only comment on my experience but my Medion is 100% reliable but as one poster mentioned its b****y noisy!

This look s like a good spec at a good price. If it meets your requirements I wouldn't be put off by the brand.

If its MD8383,you should do the Fan/Heatsink Mod,it won't be that noisy then.
You can't give one example of a PC(or PC problem) for any PC maker & say thats a complete picture.
Otherwise they would all be CarP.
Most PC probs are SW related.

seems a bit much considering the poor graphics card
processor is worth around £100

hi,instead of buying this, buy a expensive GFX card with the money.Have it framed & stick it on your Mantel piece :) ,especially if your not a avid gamer(its as much use there).
Its a PC package & certainly ain't a Gamers rig.

100% aware of what you said. I didn't realise I was stating that Aldi/Lidl were making computers around the back of the store! Having worked there I years ago they were the only place selling Medion PCs. But low and behold, the sticker under my Advent PC actually has Medion information. Wayhey.
