I don't think this is the same unit as the Toshiba JournE Scan - this takes 10 seconds to scan per photo, compared to 3 seconds for the Toshiba for a start.

I heard these also pick up dirt on the rollers as well ...... ( Just saying ?? not heated or colded either way ? )

Just to point out that 1800x1200 is somewhere between 2 and 3 megapixels. You almost certainly wouldn't notice a lack of resolution on a monitor, but if you were planning to digitally edit or reprint in a larger size, you may notice a loss of detail. If that's not a problem then this could well be a good deal.

I've got one of these and have been looking for something to do a mass scan of all my parents old photos. Have to say, the speed of using this has been great. No need for software, or a laptop has been great, just sat in front of the tele the other night and scanned 600 photos without messing around with a flatbed scanner, cables or a laptop. It automatically scans each photo to a single cropped file, so no need to do major editing as you would with a flat bed (unless you use Photoshop)

I would recommend it very highly, and especially for under £30 does the job well. I wish the resolution was higher, but it appears that scanning technology isn't developed very much any more, not much on the market.

That is a criticism from one person on the Toshiba post. Haven't found it with my one. Problem is the way it works there is a risk of getting dirt, as its an auto feed. Only way to avoid this is to use a flat bed or to use the photo pouches that come with it (although i had trouble with them feeding in straight)
