Very cool. Sadly I bought the PS3 Mega drive collection to show the kids how brilliant things used to be.

They weren't impressed with yesteryear one bit.

Still, to me very cool and lots of stock so HOT!

I don't get your logic :?

Not voting either way would have been more reasonable. To follow the logic on, I may go and vote cold on the HMV deal as it is only £14.99 here

No Streets of Rage which is a shame.

These are goos BUT they don't last very long if you are giving them to kids. 2 of mine have DSI's and are fine they look after them. This just didn't hold up, not bad for £15 just don't expect it to last it's not really well made.

Same price in HMV, though they are prone to breaking very easily as they are poorly made.

For £15 you can probably get yourself a nice original xbox, softmod it and run emulators on it. the standard 8GB hdd holds a huge amount of roms and the original xbox can emulate at full speed upto n64. An awesome emulation centre. It even plays 32x, mega cd, snes, snes sfx, playstation, vcs, msx, pc engine, amiga, atari st and masses more. The roms often work from zip archives and many xbox's have 10GB hdds anyway. Basically enough space for all your emulation needs. Not forgetting the xbox is an incredible media centre and has a mass of its own fantastic games like halo, morrowind, half life 2 etc.

Not forgetting the original xbox walks all over the wii in game performance with upto 1080i resolution and 5.1 channel sound. Yes it might take a little time to setup but if your interested in the retro scene its amazing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QFvLB7PZwE

Totally understand its not a portable device but the emulation is perfect and you can play any megadrive game upto 1080i with graphics filters to give a superb image on any flatscreen tv via component.

Well there were none in stock near me so I had to put in three different postcodes before I found a store with one in stock which was in Croydon Centre which is about 8 miles away. If I had bothered to reserve it I would have either drive then pay to park or pay for public transport and take a good couple of hours out of my day or spend 5 mins ordering on the net and wait for it to come to me which is what I did.

So for all those who have plenty in stock in the Argos round the corner from their house give it heat and fill ya boots but for me and anyone living near me this is cold in comparison to HMV.

Original Xbox puts out a 1080i picture?

Just looked up how to softmod an xbox and it's way more expensive than £14.99. You need a PC for a start and not just any PC.

Not as good a price as above but if you really want Streets of Rage then worth a look. Probably worth keeping tabs on as may similarly come down in price at some point??

Games Included:

Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle,
Alien Storm,
Altered Beast,
Arrow Flash,
Bonanza Bros.,
Columns,
Crack Down,
Decap Attack,
ESWAT: City Under Seige,
Fatal Labyrinth,
Flicky,
Golden Axe II,
Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi,
Streets of Rage 1,
Streets of Rage 3,
Sonic & Knuckles,
Sonic the Hedgehog,
Virtua Fighter II

Not sure what you mean. Xbox's go dirt cheap now. Game even sold them for £10 with a 12 month guarantee at one point. An xbox controller cable to usb can be bought very cheaply and you just need splinter cell xbox game for the softmod again very cheap. You need a pc to move the software via ftp or at least create xbox discs with the necessary software on, yes thats true. There is a learning curve but its very cheap to do.

Yes the original xbox goes upto 1080i resolution for games, there are more games supporting 720p though like soul caliber II. The emulators can render at many different resolutions but the emulators that are close to maxing out the xbox like psx and n64 don't upscale or at least don't upscale at full speed.

MTV vs ATV was 1080i on original xbox. Also the original xbox generally renders with 32bit colour where as a console like the wii for example is only 24bit colour. Very powerful console the xbox shame Microsoft swept it under the carpet so to speak when the 360 came out. In truth they should have continued selling it until they actually could make the 360 reliable which probably would have been about a year later. Call of Duty 3 on the xbox doesn't look much worse than the 360 or ps3 version. Anyway they are treated like junk nowadays so can be picked up for next to nothing.

Bonzobanana is 100% bang on here. If you hunt around you could pick a chipped one up for 15 and stick a old drive in it. Anyone on here clearly has access to a PC anyway, the rest of its easy.
Repped..

Aww mate, don't get me started on how Microsoft dumped the classic old Xbox like a ton of bricks.

Literally overnight ALL imminent releases were cancelled and they just stopped. It was so sudden I'm sure that some unreleased games are sitting in warehouses gathering dust as we speak.

P!ssed me off so much I swore that I would NEVER buy another Microsoft console again, and I've stuck to that promise.

Even now the PS2 has the occasional release!

Say what you like about Sony, they support their consoles, LONG after their newest model is released, same goes for Nintendo.

Thats why you'd be mad to get one of their new kinect devices. If it doesn't sell, they'll drop it with no apologies.

I totally see what you mean on all of your points bonzobanana, but the kinect device will be around the same cost as a single game anyway so if they only release a few titles for it, its not going to be that much of a dead loss anyway because I'll still get some worth out of it.

Also, the softmod idea is great for people like us but some people are not comfortable with technical things, especially when they deviate away from their commercial intended purpose... then of course theres the legality of emulating if you dont own the original copies ;-) So surely for those two reasons alone, this deal is still hot?

only 2 left at gallows corner romford the rest of my local stores out of stock, if it helps anyone

A moot point really as you can't carry an original xbox further than a few yards (jk) yet alone of the bus/train...

None in stock anywhere near West Midlands (pity as I prefer the look of the white one!).
