Why do people regard that as a bad thing?

Embrace something different! Why do you want to already know what every game is going to be about before you even play it...

The trouble with AAA games (which admittedly these couldn't be further from) is that they stick so rigidly to well defined genres and are terrified of originality, indie games are a breath of fresh air by comparison, sure you will get some stinkers, but you also get some great games mainstream publishing just wouldn't allow.

For me the best ones are the Frederic games. They are rhythm games which require you to press a key with perfect timing and gets really difficult at higher difficulties. All with a cheesy story.

Also the sparkle games are great when in a relaxed mood, you basically swim around feeding trying to evolve your little creature. Millie is a modern caterpillar game and Violett remastered is a solid point and click adventure game.

And even if you hate them all, 27 of the 28 games have trading cards so you'll make your money back easily. ;)

I tend to grab any free steam games I find and when I added this lot to my account, only 1 of the 28 were already added.

worth it alone for the trading cards value. just recently cottoned on to this trading cards thing and amassed over a tenner's worth on steam already, should get a few more £ from this lot too. then buy the "big stand out titles" with the resulting cash :)

I stand by my comments. Even if reckoning didn't mean it as a negative, a lot of people do use that as a reason to deride and pass by these smaller games, just look at the monthly PS+ threads for examples of this. Probably the reason the console and AAA markets play it so safe year in year out. Just glad the indies find enough of a niche to keep going as they are a welcome breath of fresh air and a return to the kinds of small bedroom programming the 80s gave us....
