HI All so i know that Amex Shop Small has been posted a couple of times but i thought id put some specific stores and locations - mainly around London but with many more and some advice from previous experience on this promotion. I am a big advocate of Amex and have never had issues with them - this is a great offer all round. So here goes.
1- Their online map is not easy to navigate through so be patient but you can find a lot. Some stores have also been misspelt so you have to dig and spend time.
2 - If the store is on the map you WILL get the credit , you just have to chase it manually but you will get it
3 - If you have multiple cards and add on cards , they all count as individual cards. So say you have 3 cards and 3 additional cards that means you can spend £60 in one location and get £30 in credits ( £5 per £10 ) . Just make sure you register them all and if in doubt take a screen grab.
4 -Same business multiple locations means you can rack up in each location . So take Londis for example , multiple locations are on the map - you can spend £10 per card in each place as they are separate entities. It even goes further that some places with the same address have 2 till points - you can spend in both till points as a separate entity ( but double check this)
5- It helps to call the store to confirm they take Amex and if you have multiple cards can you split a payment up.
6 - So here are some locations to look out for this weekend:

- Londis - Nationwide locations
- Budgens - Nationwide locations ( note East Finchley is written down as BUGDENS but still tracks)

Only for non branded versions of the american express card, for instance I've got a Virgin Atlantic one, so it won't work, so I'm voting it cold

Bloody stupid reason to vote cold. No different to any non Amex holder coming into an Amex card deal and voting it cold because they don't have Amex.

Anyway, have some heat really nice work am an eye opener I figured the small shop deal wasn't worth it but you have highlighted a few gems, 50% of in CEX hands down would be the best ever deal on a console game pretty much of your choosing
#3
have some heat op for the detail and effort.

my only other comment would be only works for original branded amex cards. so does not work for my barcaly amex.

also spar stores in Scotland down to branch if they accept amex, not all do.
#4
Many Budgens stores are franchises and its down to the store owner how and what cards they accept.
#5
@jasee All AmEx cards are eligible including those issued by MBNA e.g. Virgin Atlantic.
#6
Works for my Costco Amex card, just be sure you go to the Amex site and register your card for this deal.
#7
Can confirm that MBNA cards work As I have one.

Except that you're wrong. I've the same VA Amex and have had 12 Shop Small £5 credits already. :-)

heat....Thanks for taking the time to write this....Will look into this.

good effort, used one stop for stamps and beer. hope it tracks and pays out. love amex

Heat for the effort, the amex mobile site for finding participating retailers is quite unreliable at times so this is helpful.

So far got around £30 back in credits but have had to chase up a couple and also make sure you contact amex if the shop refuses to accept your card (two in London have done this saying they get charged £2.75 per transaction!) they will automatically credit you the £5 if the retailer does not accept your card.

Yes, if other CEX stores are anything to go by, they don't take Amex. Strange why they would be included in a promotion for Amex!
#13
Thanks so much for the effort. Heat

yes, so it seems, a previous scheme was only for non-branded versions

Def works with my Barclays issued Amex. In fact went to a local Restaurant who said they did not take Amex when I presented my card to pay. Gave them my Barclays Amex (which has Barclaycard written on it) and it went through. Split the bill with my wife who is an additional card holder and got 2x £5 statement credits. Many of these shops think Amex charge a very high rate when in fact it is now fairly similar to other cards.

I can confirm all cards worked have been using Amex promotions for years. I have MBNA and they work
#17

Every second small shop do not accept amex.

If you find a shop which amex says is on the list but the shop refuses then complain to amex and they will most likely credit you with the £5.
#25
Don't why people are voting cold....
#26
