Avoid most 'Petroleum' brand items from there, and you should be alright - to say it's the 'basics' range of gear that we carry is an understatement. It does the job, but is very poor quality, to be honest.

Wrong there, I'm afraid, bud - no association with them whatsoever.

The UP TO 70% off promotional-angle stopped when the company got their wrists slapped for it back in 2005 (ish). It's the same same trading name, but the sales strategy is much different to back then. As is the clothing type and brands stocked.

As for the stores closing down, yes they hit the fan and went into administration on Christmas Eve 2008, but after which, the crud-trading stores were closed, costs were cut and stores have since been re-opened on more opportunist sites in different locations.

Ordered one for my son...... decent quality website too.

not sure if they still work this way, but I knew a guy who managed one of their stores for a while, he said they used to have 2 stores where everything was full priced, this allowed them to say "was £45, now £10". The full price stores sold very little and let them have basically bogus "sale" prices. This would have been 10 years ago tho.

Yeah probably for a week in 1 store so they can then say its reduced

£10 is a good price but £45 is way off the mark , don't fall for the typical sales gimmicks, its not just Officers Club all stores are at it

I think this is very ugly something that my grandad might wear but it still seems an alright price I guess

That's how we used to do things. This particular item was on a POS knitwear table, with three similar styles, two at £39.99 and the other one also at £44.99. This lasted well over the duration of the Christmas period (I would say at least 6 weeks), and was very popular; with stock being found in most of the high street stores (perhaps not outlets, as they have a different price structure, but that's not to say they didn't have them too).

It seems Officers Club have a stigma attached that they don't seem to be able to shake off...
