Lol, misses needs a new car and I think she is a gorgeous blond. Pitty, we wont be able to afford to keep her blond if we get this :p

But it will do as a second car and is fun for 2 years, no different than PCP from what I can see, if we bought her a new car.

I have a 4 series on lease, you wont get anywhere near this price.
The SLK is naff IMO but heat added as this is a good deal for it (if you can get it).

Hrhr the irony.
I'd much rather be seen in the SLK than that pig ugly 4 series. BMW took a great concept car and ruined it on the way to production. Awful (sorry!)

Each to their own, I love my BMW and it drives amazingly. Although I don't mind the look for the SLK, it has an image problem and is forever associated with over weight balding men who can't afford a proper sports car or middle aged women desperately trying to look younger. Regardless, if you like your driving and have test driven one of these (which I have) I very much doubt you would be buying one.

And this is the problem with "views" on cars. Its personal preference. I owned a Z4. I sorta liked it.
But I don't miss the harsh ride. Cars are like marmite, they divide. People either like that go-kart feel of the BMW (which doesn't always equate to good handling) and it doesn't even register with them that the ride is hard. Or people like the nice serene feel of a Merc. Or an Audi which typically sits in between. (depends on S-line, wheel size etc, Im grossly generalising).

All this macho talk of "drivers car" and 0-60 times. Isn't that for 9 year olds who play top trumps?
Someone else put "embarrassed at the traffic lights"! Doesn't that say a lot about them and their mentality?!
Gees, driving your car is not one big race competition.
I like a nice car, cos of the nice ride, the nice interior, the quality materials, the lack of going to the dealership to get stuff fixed.
Not because I can race someone in a Corsa VXR who is doing their best to blow up their engine, come on people. Seriously?

The Merc only has an image problem in the minds of small people who are making comparisons, which says more about them than anyone else. Owners have been stereotyped on this thread to fat bald old men, and middle age woman trying to regain their youth. How sad, cynical and downright awful. Are all BMW drivers slightly arrogant polyster wearing t*ssers as well? Is that how we are to act these days, denigrate others due to their car choice. Really?

Come on people your better than that. Don't let what other think influence what you buy, you buy what you like. Even if it is that BMW 4 series. ;) If you like it, then that should be good enough. "Image" is for kids, not grown ups.

Would someone be kind enough to break a lease like this down? Does it include insurance and maintenance costs?

Insurance is not included, maintenance I think is extra: http://www.gateway2lease.com/maintenance.php

I agree I am confused about leasing, If I am correct the total cost for 2 years is £6908 inc Vat for the purchase hire, which to me is a good deal if it includes servicing and 2 years road tax.

So is it just the case I would need to just add fuel and car insurance?

Super hot price, but looks like it was a misprice or something. I've had similar with deals I've posted which once they realise they whip them off the website.

Obviously this deal is not for everyone. I just can't be convinced to those kind of deals. After 2 years you'll lose £7k and you will not have a car. Is it not better to buy 2nd hand car for this price?

But you can't compare like for like.
If you buy a £7k car as you put it, it won't be a car anywhere near this spec.

It's not for me personally, but you need to look at it as purchasing a new car vs leasing a new car. It's not really fair to compare a brand new car to a 5 year old car.

The SLK 200 AMG is about £30k new. After 2 years, it will be worth £20k at a push. If you lease it at £7k over the term, then you loose less money (I'm not even pretending that you gain / save)

Hot deal imo, but it's obviously not for everyone.

If you've only got £7k wouldn't it be a better idea to buy a car that would last more than two years, because that's what this deal is. Heck if you've only got £7k why not buy a second hand car, because if you can only stump up £7k for a car then running something cheap is probably good advice!

£7k will get a good MX-5 which will be more fun to drive.

Hit the nail on the head.
It's all about predicting future value and calculating which way reduces loss.

If you've a fair few quid in your pocket and you want to change your car every two years, lease deals can sometimes be the most fiscally efficient.

For some, a car is just a utility - the buy a 2nd hand car for £7k people.

For others, it's an infatuation and an obsession - the spend £7k every two years and get a new car every time people.

You can't compare leasing a brand new car with maintenance to buying a 2nd hand car without.
Many people lease a car to avoid owning, disposal / sale, maintenance and depreciation.

If you want to buy a second hand car for £7K, do that.
If you want a brand new expensive car for 2 years, do that.
I had a C3 for 3 years for £150 a month. I'd do it again as it worked fine for me.

Good deal - I got mine (250 CDI) for £189+VAT 18 months ago, but don't rate the car, especially in the wet as it has the least amount of grip on a moist surface of any car I've driven. There is endless wheel spin if you dare to put the accelerator past halfway, and don't even think about touching it during a corner / roundabout. Other bad points include tyre noise, terrible steaming up / inside frost which takes ages to clear and noisy engine.

Plus points: it looks nice.

Apart from its not really an AMG.
