  This is a cracking deal! You'd normally pay £350 for something like this on offer. Only thing I would do is upgrade the derailleurs to Deore or SLX.

  I'm usually a big fan of the value for money offered by the Carrera brand, but in this instance it has to be the Merida as the spec is better all round. Both bikes do however have low end forks that will do for light trails and if and when you start hitting the heavier terrain you can always splash out on better forks and you'll have a nice bike worth upgrading as other parts wear out.
