I got this instore for my kids last night - didn't realise it was the first day of release!
£11.28 at Amazon and nearly £13 everywhere else
(volume 2 won't be released until February, but because of erratic programming we've missed a few episodes and *need* it now... apparently!)

The mythical city of Camelot, in a time before history began, is a fantastical realm of legendary beasts and mysterious peoples. In this dangerous world, magic has been banned by the ruthless tyrant, Uther Pendragon. Merlin, a young man gifted with extraordinary magical powers arrives at the gates of Camelot as a young man, sent by his mother to start a new life. Though bright-eyed with wonder, the young sorcerer quickly makes enemies, including the heir to Uther's crown, the headstrong Prince Arthur. This collection brings together episodes from the beginning of the show's second series.

Annoys me when they split a Season into Volumes, grrr!
normally I'd agree with you, but this is one of the few tv series that my kids are into and they've given me a lot of grief about missing recent eps! plus my OH has just told Sky where to stick their services after finding out about some hidden charges that they wouldn't refund, so we need a few DVDs to cheer the kids up as they're devastated lol!
Good series.Hubby and i watch on a Sat night.
Great programme from the BBC.

Bumped into Merlin and the cast whilst they were filming in Pierrefonds when we were on holiday in France.

Children and us hooked ever since.
