A very difficult to find title and especially at this price. Play.com had it for 17.99 only two weeks but I missed it since it sold out very quickly but now it's back in stock again. This is usually sold on eBay for around 30+ pounds (last time I checked) and the nearest online shop price seems to be 39.99 at Soft.co.uk so make sure you buy it while you can.

This is my first deal by the way! :-)

Good price MagicianLord, welcome from me too :)

Great game, really shows off the Cube's power compared to the PS2. I found it a little too short though.
#5
this isnt as good as the PS1 version but i must say its still one of the best games around!

i sold my copy on ebay a lil while ago when i got a wii and im always on the 360 now anyways so never play cube games. sold it for about £27 + p&p!

Is this the same game as any of the playstation versions?

Yes it is a remake of the first Metal Gear Solid for playstation 1. It's the same game with a few bits added and with far better graphics...For more details on what's been changed you can check these reviews out:

Man, right when I had to cancel my credit card due to fraudulent transactions. This is the second rare game to came in stock when I haven't got a credit card - Had to pay £65 into my debit card account to buy that and 2 others, no money in my debit card account atm.

I'm hoping this is still going to be in stock by tomorrow. :-(

your in the same boat as me then

I notice that on eBay people are saying this game will work on the Wii - does anyone know if that's true ?
#16
All gamecube games should work with the Wii.
#17
thanks just bought one :)

be good to fill the wii game drought after i get bored of excite truck :)
#18
Damn missed it. How long does it usually take to come back in stock?
banned#19
I managed to get it, my credit card arrived in time. :)

It might never come back in stock - That's the reason paying £17.99 for a 2 year old game is such a good deal. Even Mario and Zelda GC games are rare now... I've been trying to get Mario Sunshine and Kart for between £15-£20 for ages, they're never in-stock.

I've been chasing F-Zero for a long time but foolishly held out to try and get the 'magic' £4.99 price. Instead of going lower I've watched it go up instead :-(

Nintendo titles are always a good investment for the future, I cleared out all my Snes games just before the market was flooded and bought them all back at about £2-£3 a piece. They're worth a lot more than that now.

arrived this morning :) cant wait to go home to play it :)

i got f zero a few months ago in game, 4 for £20 preowned, difficult to find lots of GC games at a good price

always on the lookout for RE2 and RE3 on GC but are always near enough £20 each

Mine wasn't sealed either.

mine wasn't sealed AND it was the Player's Choice version NOT the original as pictured on the website.
Added to that I can't find an email address to complain now they have their "HelpDesk" thing online.
very very very unhappy :x

Is there a difference in the actual software or is it just different packaging?

Ditto.

I doubt Play would knowingly buy and sell used games. And this game isn't easy to find, it's not like a store secretly has 20+ used copies on offer.

Player's Choice = GC platinum range. The only difference is the case.

I put one of these on eBay and was flooded with questions as to whether it was the original or the players choice.

Why would games not be sealed if they hadn't been opened ???

I know certain cheaper brand games aren't always sealed, but I have no idea why a game as huge as MGS wouldn't be sealed if brand new. The only thing that comes to my mind is that Konami decided to put discs from the original version into the Player's Choice version to sell them in fancy new packaging, not bothering to reseal. :/

I agree, it wasn't smart to on the part of Play.com not to point out they were selling the Player's Choice version. Some people only want the original version, mainly because it adds to the resale value on eBay... Play will certainly have upset eBay sellers who ordered 5 of the Player's Choice version!

They are more than likely returns from stores like GAME that used to be granted 'sale or return' on a lot of titles.

If they've been put out on the shop floor they would have to be opened and gutted as titles like this would be unlikely to be backed up with adequate POS material.

The title is almost certainly OOP and Play.com probably decided to seize a batch at a good price as technically they are still classed as new.
#32
mine was sealed too

Play have sent me some other unsealed games - Hitman 2 and Contracts. They were in the sale section they had going on back then... I think they only cost me £4.99-7.99 each.

I don't mind too much. It's not like I sell the games I buy, I'm weird when it comes to selling my games (good job really, I destroyed the case and booklet for my ultra rare Suikoden II when I was 9! ;___;).
#34
OK, so mine came from PLAY yesterday and I'm well pi**ed off!

The game wasn't sealed, the front cover was scratched to hell, the discs had fingerprints all over them and there was a rip at the bottom of the paper cover!

Also it wasn't the regular (more collectable) version, just the 'players choice'

Needless to say it's going back! :x :x :x
#35
yeah mine came unsealed too :@

wasnt happy when i got home to see the players choice box and an unsealed game!

going back too unless they credit me with something for a used game in not great condition i.e. £10 back as i wouldnt pay more than £7.99 for an unsealed game in the condition it was (failed to read first time on my Wii, no problems with any other GC games i've got)

Mine seems to be in perfect condition.

...I'm going to try it now; I haven't so far due to my GC not being plugged in. I'm not going to send mine back unless it doesn't work.

good luck!.... it crashed my wii first time i put it in :x not tried it on my GC yet but can't be arsed to unpack it just to test this out.

shame cause its meant to be a real good game, lucky you got a good one!

Mine works fine, no problems.

I'm a little disappointed with the graphical side of things - I expected it to at least looks as good as MGS 2.

Meh, at least they extended nearly all the cut-scenes by a huge amount. Some of them do seem a bit stupid, most notably the scene where Snake dodges bullets in Matrix style, but I do like most of the entended stuff so far.
