picked up one of these in asda yesterday, really good quality for the price. 'walls' and base of the house are wood and the roof is corregated metal. theres another style with a wooden roof but i thought this one was better, it was also selling more.

It does look good, might have to get one or two.

Good price - the only thing I "thought" i had read is that you should avoid metal as it heats up and can cook the birds inside..... so I guess think about where you would site it....

I wouldn't worry about it. It looks like an air raid shelter. The birds won't go inside unless we're under attack.

available for £1.99 in B&M bargains, exactly the same!!

Asda had these last year and i bought a couple but the birds never nested in them im sure the hole in the front is too small even for finches etc i also bought some wooden ones which they also had on offer these were fine as the birds pecked at it making the hole larger but this one has the metal ring to protect it.

You're bang on. This will heat up to tremendous temperatures in the spring and summer and could kill anything inside. Wood is good but cement homes are best. Position in a permanently shaded area if you have to buy this. The hole has a metal ring to prevent larger birds like, GS Woodpeckers, getting in and eating the young.
