Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.

In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth's surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.

The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.

You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.

* Metro 2033 is a gripping, atmospheric first person shooter experience powered by cutting edge technology, featuring full DX10 and NVDIA PhysX support for high-end gaming PCs, to deliver incredible visuals.
* Witness the everyday horrors of a broken society living in constant fear.
* Brave the darkness of the tunnels, where mutants hunt their prey and ghostly spirits lurk.
* Explore the desolate city-surface, trusting your gas mask and rifle to protect you from a poisoned world and the creatures that roam there.
* Steel your nerve and prepare to face the terrors that await.

Nice. Heat added.

I really didn't enjoy this game. It's really glitchy which ruined it for me. I'd wait until it goes below £10 before picking up.
#3
I heard mixed reviews but for sub-£20 so shortly after release, it's worth picking up.

I've been reading the book (was interested doing it this way round, as I can't think of many books turned into games! (discounting ones where there has been a movie in the middle)) and have so far struggled to understand how they've managed to turn it into a FPS whilst keeping faithful to it. Although I'm about two-thirds through the book, I suppose there's still time for that to change.

I haven't played the game myself, but have heard from a friend that it's probably the most atmospheric and scary FPS game he's played (more so than AvP/F.E.A.R.), he hasn't mentioned it being glitchy though, more that it's heavily scripted and can lead to some frustrating moments when you can't progress any further without reloading a section of the game and doing it differently.

I personally was going to wait before it dropped down to £15 on Xbox, but I'm sorely tempted at this price especially If I have a rubbish day at work tomorrow!

its a very good game, quite short about 7 to 8 hours, but the atmosphere is simply stunning, the ghosts explanation scene was spooky as hell

very scripted, but the graphics are great!

Good price. I've been waiting for the price to drop for the last couple of weeks. I know the game got mixed reviews but for £12 I'm willing to take a punt.

#11
from the reviews I have read, it seems to be better on the PC, because of AMMO issues, seems like ammo can be an issue?

Great price. Got £20 trade in at Game for this last saturday.

The game itself is ok. Not brilliant, but worth a punt.

I have to agree that this game wasn't all i expected and was made out to be. Your much better off buying any one of the STALKER games instead.
#21
i bought this game on release day and all i can say although it is a good game it was not worth the £30 plus i paid for it. For around the £17 below mark it is worth taking a gamble on. This game just has a great atmosphere and that is all I will give it.

Pretty much sums it up, while I enjoyed this game it was way to short and didnt really offer value for money :/

Stalker on the other hand, you could squeeze hours and hours of that game, I've probably pumped 40+ hours into Shadow over chernoblyn and just started call of pripyat. Theres some seriously crap your pants moments in this series and it reminds me of when games were built with thought and quality in mind sort of like deus ex....theres actually atmosphere and choices to be made

(got clear sky but just need to find it in my room lol)

PC version now out of stock too.... damn!!!
#24
can't say you're all really missing much, it seems like a chore just playing through this game which is never a good sign... you'll literally spend ages pummelling precious ammo into someone/something and it barely kills them.

Deus Ex is a lot better than Stalker. I've only played the original Stalker but it wasn't that great a game, the linear play and invisible boundary in the landscape where you stop and then the next level loads were a particularly poor part of the gameplay. HL2 was like that too, although it would load mid level seriously disrupting the action. Far Cry was a game to get it right where the complete level was loaded. Deus Ex 2 btw was rubbish.
