Mgmt ?

Yes; MGMT (officially pronounced em-gee-em-tee but colloquially pronounced 'Management')

Excellent CD - tracks 1 to 7 are superb but don't expect any obvious singles this time. Read the review on AMG - 9/10. And amazing price - this has been out how many weeks? Two?

The cover looks like a psychedelic Sonic The Hedgehog.

I keep getting 'You have already used this promotional code.'

EDIT: Rep for Mr. Wedge :)

This is a nice catchy album. I actually prefer it to the first one, but as someone above has said don't expect a "Time To Pretend" or "Kids" stand out track. It reminds me of Franz Ferdinand's sophomore change in many ways actually - going kind of retro but at the same time very relevant.

A decent price for a new album, but blimey, is it just me that thinks this album absolutely stinks? Their first was excellent, and I went to see them live in Bristol off the back of it. But I'm so disappointed with this one. "Brian Eno" has to be one of the worst tracks I've ever heard. But clearly some people will like it and the price is right for them!

I was really excited when I saw this on Spotify and I fell asleep listening to it! It really does stink!

I don't think it's particularly bad, it's just not as good as their first, which would have been difficult. The retro thing is taken too far and almost every track can be identified by it's 60's or 70's references, and the production values which made the first album so special (verging on the weird) are not in evidence here. All in all just a bit ordinary.

Generally favourable reviews - http://www.metacritic.com/music/artists/mgmt/congratulations

The negative comments seem to be from anyone expecting a second Oracular Spectacular. I agree with the AMG review - this is a more rounded offering, more coherent, but seriously less commercial. As a warning, I'd check through some of the less positive reviews too - not everyone is going to like this.

It's definitely meant to look like some sort of creature and Sonic fits the bill, subliminal artwork perhaps :-D

It appears to be a play on the Japanese painting by Katsushika Hokusai, titled, 'The Great Wave'.

To me, it appears to be a wolf-like creature in the wave on this album cover.

The squares in the background are reminiscent of the earlier Sonic games also..

Yeah, Green Hill zone and the like! Can't think of what the pattern is called though - remember drawing it at school thinking it was quite interesting.

I was hoping for Oracular part 2...this stinks.
Just like the Killers- sensational debut, dreadful follow-up

Better I think. Despite ripping off latter period Pixies to some tune...

No less self indulgent than the 1st. ;-)
