My girlfriend was getting a new tyre from kwik fit when I asked a quote for mine (not yet had to by any). The chap did the mechanics breathing in when I mentioned Michelin Pilot Sports and he said this wont be cheap. The on screen price quoted for the fronts (224/45/17) was £174 and the rears (245/40/17) £230. He said (when the boss was not looking) to go online, get a quote for the exact same tyre, from exactly the same place just simply booked and paid for online.
I didnt think there would be much difference but checked and the fronts are quoted at £103.36 and rears £142.80 plus valve and balancing.. I know where I will be going when I need one!

** I notice many people have rated and commented regarding Kwik Fit as a company due to personal experiences but please rate the deal offered. (is it a hot deal or not?) **

"I know where I will be going when I need one!"

Me too buddy - nowhere near kwik fit - who even after the online discount still can't get near my independent.

Might be good for some though - and not rubbishing this deal as it obviously helped you!

Not voted because there are so many different tyres and haven't got a price for all of them
#2
Good prices those. I normally use Camskill and they come in at £138.45 a piece.

In fairness, that price is good for a real life tyre fitters.

I usually get mine from www.mytyres.co.uk, but even they can only just get under it, then you'll have to lug them to a tyre place to get them fitted so works out the same.:)

Wouldn't pay what they normally quoted you though!!!!!!!!!!!:x

Kwik fit are the worst people i have ever had the misfortune to deal with,

Sounds like "cutting my nose off etc" but i would rather pay more at another company than give them a penny!

Try "Blackcircles" online, they are often the best to deal with, very good prices i found!

If anyone has a Tanvic Tyres near them, I find them to have the most competitive price and excellent service.

My own experience of KwikFit is not good.
My 4-year old car seemed to be pulling to the left (could just have been the road camber) but I took it in to KwikFit for retracking. I watched them use a trolley jack to lift the car and set up the tracking kit. It was well out of true, the pointers were all over the place. Then, while they made the correction, they told me to go to the office to arrange payment. The car was "ready" as soon as I had finished paying. Showing a little disbelief at their speed, they even took me out to see the tracking kit still fitted to the front wheels of my car with the pointers now properly aligned and he said he had adjusted it. But it seemed no different as I drove off, so I drove back to complain. Another guy checked and when I examined the pointers I was struck by how insensitive they were to movement. They were quite rigid so when I looked more closely, I found someone had jammed a cigarette end under the pointers so they simply pointed to wherever you wanted them to point. I removed the fag ends with a wry smile and a comment to let them know I realised what they were up to. The first guy insisted he had adjusted the track ends but agreed it still needed more adjustment. But then when he tried to do that, he couldn't shift the locknuts because they were seized. Eventually, he managed to release them and make the adjustment but it was obvious to us all that the nuts had never been released before in the car's entire life, let alone a few minutes earlier.
The car was much better after that but I won't trust any garage again unless I am looking over their shoulder.

Never tried KwikFit for tyre prices as I've never been back but they used to offer all sorts of discounts if you were a member of a motoring club or has a fleet car.

Ditto, and Blackcircles can deliver to my local Protyre who I find do a good job of alignment and balancing unlike some places I've used.

Last week I got a pair of brand new Michilin Pilot sport's for £160.00 (235/45/17) from a famous online auction site, then got a local fitter to but them on and balanced for a tenner...

Your price is very good for them, Im sure when i check last week they were not that cheap!
#9
By the way, OP. What car do you have that has different size tyres on the front from the back? A dragster?

Personally, I'll never use Kwik Fit again....usual horror story. I find these people very good http://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/ They own National Tyres, so when you order the tyres, you get them fitted there. One advantage is that they are a national chain, and therefore, easy for you to buy the tyres on-line and get them fitted there. I usually get the Continentals or Michellin tyres, and they are much cheaper than prices quoted instore at National Tyre! Worth a punt.

LOL no its a M3

Same size tyres as my Beemer
I got a set of 4 tyres off eBay for £80 albeit not a decent make like these.

I once called kwik fit for a tyre price, they were £102 more expensive than another quote i had online.

Kwik fit supervisor said i should book it in with him, pay the £259 to to kwik fit, get the online quote and print it out, send it to their head office where they would issue the refund of £102 to price match it.

I asked how long it would take and he said "about 2 weeks"!

So i ask him why i should be out of pocket to kwick fit for 2 weeks so they can only price match it and not give the business to anothe company who are far better priced from the beginning, He couldnt give me an answer.

Cowboys.

Worth checking Blackcircles who I used to use, though in recent years it's http://www.event-tyres.co.uk who come to you who've been best bargain for me!

Always ring round, kwik fit have a massive profit added on in the first place and there normal come back is - "We do offer a price promise"..... sorry pal, give the the best price first.

Valuetyres.co.uk and there is a 10% off Voucher here if you search.... used them loads of times and never had an issue and always cheap

Hey, don't knock it - at least you get free prescriptions! ;-)

Interesting, was expecting them to rob me for my rears 265/35/18 but came in at £175.50 for Pirellis which was about £20 cheaper than an indi I use? Still a bit cynical but will bear in mind when they need replacing!
#21
kwik fit will price match any local garage, and they usually have an offers on for other sevices at reduced price if you spend £50 on tyres
so could be worth ringing around for a lower quote
I bought michelins last year and saved £70 odd quid on 2, local garage wanted £80 ish and KF wanted £115 for the same tyres, KF price matched and topped up the air con for £25 instead of £50

Don't understand people paying '000s for a flash high performance car then scrimping on the stuff that keeps you safe.

Anyone tried using nitrogen filling? What's that all about? KF claim it increases the life of the tyre by 25%

Yeah, right!

Be really careful with Tanvic, i ordered some particular tyres and they ordered them in, when i went to pay the bill it was cheaper than quoted which made me suspicious ,low and behold they put a different brand on, i had a right fit at them and they ordered the correct ones in (kept the wrong ones on for 2 days until they were delivered) , they were definitely trying to pull a fast one.

SO to summarise:

www.blackcircles.com

http://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/

www.bestbuytyres.co.uk

http://www.kwik-fit.com/tyre-search.asp

http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/ (if you're in England)

Will all quote online and prices include fitting - anybody got any more to add?

Anybody used the mobile fitting services - I've never tried that.

I could add my name to the Kwik-Fit haters. Is stopped the car on the A1 the day after visiting Kwik-Fit because of the awful noise. I discovered the wheel was about to come off. Kwik-Fit initially denied responsibility, but after I wrote and complained to head office they did pay the cost of replacing the damged wheel and refitting the tyre to the new wheel. Haven't been back to the same branch since, but I have used others. In these days of internet-pricing though I've stopped using them. All the above will quote for supply and fitting a selection of brands so you can compare. Whenever I phone Kwik-Fit they say "Bring it in and we'll see what kind of deal we can do". I'm glad they're got a website sorted
However, are they really any worse than the other places or are there just more horror stories because they're the biggest chain?

Yeah, right!

There is plenty of info on the web about nitrogen. Ordinary air contains 78% nitrogen anyway. The best they can put in is 90%. Scam!

SH*T FIT not KWIK FIT.

I remember years ago they had to abandon their Ladies nights specials because they were doing unnecessary work on girls cars and the partners were sussing them out and going back and raising hell.
#28
If your after Michelins try Costco first,v good prices even if no promos on at the time
#29
I wouldn't let those clowns any where near my car again, even if its just change a tyre.

Stay clear of them for your own safety.
#30
I've used event tryes for the passed few years & they have been excellent, so far I've not manage to find a better price & they also come out to fit the tryes.

Only this week I had 2 x 235/45R17 94Y MICHELIN PILOT PRIMACY HP GREEN @ £140.37 each.

They even came out in the snow

Yet again a simple HUKD post gets messed with by people wanting a rant. This DEAL is about whether these tyres can be had cheaper elsewhere.

I've looked at Mytyres and cannot get cheaper so voted hot. ;-) Can anyone find somewhere that does them cheaper? If so, just post where you found them and vote accordingly.:?

It's not about voting cold and throwing a fit because you had a bad experience once, or because you heard bad things, it's about THIS deal ffs!:x

Michelin Pilot Primacy HP at the size you have stated are £121.72 at kwik fit so its better once again

I can not make comment as the full tyre details are not listed. That said my local Garage in Norfolk will beat ANY price by local tyre fitter including KF should I put them as a hot deal.?

But then KF say they will beat any deal, so then do you go back to KF, get their even better deal, then go back to your local garage.

If they're close enough together you could walk to each in turn, getting fitter every minute and eventually getting them for a penny each!!!:-D

If not you could wear you tyres out driving backwards and forwards!

I used event tyres was happy with the service and price.
#38
Shopping around for tyres for my Mk III Mondeo Zetec, I see that KF are actually quite competitively priced; slightly cheaper than I paid last year from Blackcircles.com, in fact! However, I gather Pro-Tyre will price match, so I'll call KF first, and Pro-Tyre next!

Looking at your previous posts - which one are you? - the kettle or the pot?

Your comments do not only take into consideration price - to name 1 you commented on the quality of the manufacture of a vacuum cleaner.

People commented on the quality of the fitment of tyres.

Don't know you buddy and not saying you are wrong in what you say, but at least practise what you preach before you swear at people!

Rant. Not what I usually do, but from my experience of brakes getting busted by them, putting my life, my family and other road users life in danger, I thought I would speak up this time.
