It's been sub-£18 in quite a few places before launch.http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/micro-machines-world-series-ps4-xb1-17-95-thegamecollection-with-code-2724452http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/10-off-pre-orders-using-code-e-g-micro-machines-world-tour-17-95-ps4-xbox-one-thegamecollection-2670174http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/micro-machines-world-series-ps4-amazon-19-99-17-99-prime-2621928

I know that but that was 10% off deal, this one is lowest RRP. Thought would be helpful if you want last minute purchase.

I really want this but i got a feeling it will drop in price
Also Is base any good? never ordered from them
#5
I haven't played it yet but the biggest gripe I've read in reviews is no co-op in races which makes sense as there is no split screen but myself looking forward to trying it out at the weekend

I've only played it for an hour or so this morning, but from the get go you can see how bare bones it is. There's no Championship/Tournament mode, which I remember being a major part of the originals. I think there's about 9 tracks which is pretty weak (around 50% down from Toybox Turbos) and (iirc) around 8 vehicles to choose, which are all exactly the same, just skinned differently.

If you're a single player kind of gamer, you're not going to enjoy it very much. Codemasters have quite clearly pushed the focus of this game towards the multiplayer audience. I'd suggest taking a look at the reviews on Steam and Metacritic for a better feel of why this game is going to bomb (in my opinion).

I paid £24.99 on the Xbox Store at midnight and I kind of wish they had Steam's refund policy at the moment.

It's not a bad game it's just not worth £20/25. I think if most hold off to around £10 they will be happy with it.

Got mine coming today from Amazon and going by that I think it will be straight on eBay, don't want to return as it was part of a multi-item order that I had some good discounts on. Really disappointing that there is no championship mode, the very heart of the game is missing. I am a primarily single player gamer, but I got on with the Megadrive and Playstation versions just fine as they had championship mode and very respectable AI drivers (especially for the time). Hate they way they have multiplayer scewed this one. :(

No local races, only elimination and battle mode. I suppose you could argue that elimination is the core of the classic nostalgia, but if you want a good old classic race, it’s a no sadly.

Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament was an absolute classic. I'd happily pay for a remaster of that. It's a shame to hear this isn't great as I was hopeful for a return to form.

This is the second time recently you have killed my buzz (pun intended) for a game about to be delivered!!!!

No championship mode is a killer for me.

Games recently have patched stuff like that in so I hope they do

Gutted mate :( it’s not been a very good month for Codemasters.

seems broken as well... I played it for a few hours last night and the game kicked the disk out on 4 occasions claiming data was corrupt.... So played fallout instead lol

I'm sure I've read recently that there IS now a steam like refund policy for Xbox store purchases, give it a Google!

I've just played the tutorial, not got time to play more yet, the first thing I noticed was LOOT BOXES at the main menu!

Thankfully I only paid 12.99 due to the 2 quid prime discount while I had a free trial, and a 5 gift card Amazon gave me for messing up an order :D

So glad I waited for reviews before buying this game, patience pays off unless it's pre-ordering Persona. ;(

What... for real? I've got it waiting at home, already feeling like I'm not going to enjoy it. How can you take out couch co-op?!

And this is true - but it has stipulations.

STOP DOING GOOD DEALS BASE I HAVE TOO MANY GAMES TO PLAY.

Heat though.

So Toybox Turbos had a good Single Player and bad MP, this reverses that completely it seems.

Boo! And no Local MP? WHAT? No sale Codies.

I bought this this morning to play with my other half as we loved Mario Kart on the Wii & thought it looked the closest thing for the Xbox. Gutted we can't play together :(

Base are fine for pre-orders all but 1 of my orders have arrived on release day.

apparently you can barely see the upcoming track, resulting into often flying off course, you almost have to memorize the corners etc

You mean Micro Machines '96 Turbo Tournament with the track editor. It was a massive improvement and things only went down hill except for the PS1 first release that was also up there with the best.

I remember some of the older games being like that though.

Ha, yeah the PC version I had was definitely MM2: TT, with the track editor. Loved that editor too - was actually a breeze to use, consider I was 10 years old at the time. :D

The local multi player on the old games was always the elimination mode. The Megadrive games never had split screen, as far as I can remember.

Nope, if I remember correctly they were actually separate games in the UK at least. I know as I had them all back in the day. Amazingly the Megadrive saw 4 Micromachines releases, pretty sure all the other systems only got 1 and 2 but on Megadrive there was the original, 2: Turbo Tournament, Turbo tournament 96 and Military was the last Megadrive release in late 96, then the very next year they released V3 on the Playstation, which is the one most seem to remember today, though the real heyday for the series was the 16 bit generation, never been as good since IMHO, though the original Playstation game was pretty good in it's own right....

Hang on. Are we sure there's no local multiplayer? Taken from the Independent (I know, I know....) "While there is an offline mode for up to four players, it’s tucked away and rather restrictive. For one, there’s no option to race for more than one player, and you also can’t level up in this mode."
Not at home so haven't had a chance to check.

Don't buy this until they release a massive update patch with local multiplayer and single player campaign. I still play the Megadrive and PS1 releases of Micro Machines and this can't hold a candle to them sadly :(

Any tips for any other cool two player games (i.e. Me & my boyfriend on the sofa together)?

Lovers in a dangerous spacetime, overcooked, speedrunners perhaps?

Stikbold is pretty good too if you like Scandinavian themed dodgeball.
