I prefer buying my stuff instore rather then online and waiting for it to be delivered and having the hassle of having to be in for when it is delivered. its the cheapest i know of its kind instore. you could probably get a dvd player with usb and etc cheaper but obv this is much smaller and ideal for bedrooms!

In which case then you aren't going to get so many bargains, and even fewer Hot deals on here!

I agree, being able to pick stuff up is a lot quicker & often easier, but one of the reasons online retailers are often cheap is because they are not running large shops!

hmm im unclear on the specs of these things - maplin one plays back actual 720p files but the ebuyer ones both require lower res which is then upscaled to higher onscreen?
or is it just a case of different working? (lack of reading too perhaps)

You would be hard pressed to get a decent picture from Xvid on 1020p or even 720p (that's what I have). You would need to play full DVD resolution to get a good picture with anything higher than 576p. The problem with DVDs is that those player do not work well with DVD menus and you need to play the individual VOB files from the root. I watch most my Xvid movies on composite 576p for that reason.
