I see that this scalextric has been reduced today in Argos. Looks like quite a good buy. Was thinking of getting my son a mega motors set. Does anyone know if these are a good buy?

I have three differing sets of micro scalextric, they are all very good, but with three cars this is a fantastic deal. voted hot

Cheers OP. Just reserved one

Oliviasdad - do the cars stay on the track very will. We have had various sets before where they just fly off at every corner! I know you have to take it easy on the corners, but some just seem impossible!

does anyone know what the track actually looks like, can't seem to find a picture. Was going to buy the mega motors track as well any thoughts?

there is an Aston Martin set in Woolies for the same price. Only two cars though I think, a DB7 and a something else. spotted this a few days ago.

How is it better? The same company makes both sets, the length of track you get is virtually the same, and there is an extra car with the Argos one. Unless you're a massive Aston Martin fan I can't see the point in going for that set.

you also have to pay for delivery with that one from woolworths

We bought my nipper both the "My First Scalextric" and the Simpsons Micro and have great fun. The cars stick like glue because of the magnets used for the motor as well. Also, if the cars come off the track, sometimes the body comes off, nipper puts it on the track bodyless and they go faster!!!

problem we have is that our dog wants to chase the cars!!!

Jen06 - Sorry it took so long to reply (i was nipping to currys to get the Transformers Scalextric for £19.99 :-) ) - I've never experienced any issues with cars flying off, but I have never broken any speed limits either ;-) Plus I've never really given them the 'finger to the plastic'

hhmm - sounds like they are quite good sets then. Only prob is I bought the Mega Motors Champion Deluxe set in the summer to put away for Xmas, but have since read mixed reviews re the quality of these. Does anyone have a mega motors set who can advise?

I dont think there is much difference between them. They seem a similar size track.
The F1 track has 9 variations you can copy, and tracks and barriers

The showdown track has 3 cars instead of 2 though. Not sure what else it has.

I guess you cant go wrong with either.

There is an official scalextric forum that may be worth looking at.
