If this is in my Tesco's I am defo gonna pick this up , currently I am using a crappy keyboard and mouse and these Microsoft's are meant to be great .

Wired is better. Wait to be annoyed every time the batteries run out. The wires don't really get in the way anyway.

Batteries last over 2 years in my Logitech wireless keyboard, not that annoying....Don't know about this one though.

Had one of these for years, batteries last about two years and they remind you with a gentle
pop up that the batteries are getting low, great product, with reguard to wires, lets forget wifi,
mobile phones and all the other devices we take for granted without wires, theres always someone trying to put a good deal down on this site.

I've got this set and it's excellent, really comfortable and smart looking.

Wired is fine if you are gaming a lot but battery life isn't really an issue for this as they last a long time as per posts above.

Having said that, always keep a spare wired keyboard handy if you need to re-install Windows or trouble-shoot generally as this set doesn't work until Windows fully loads.

Great product, great price, heat and rep from me.

It is a good price but I have to agree with the wires thing (partially)

Wired keyboard and wireless mouse is always my choice.

Why have a device that needs batteries and takes up a USB slot when there's a socket specially for it that just works?

However, when it does come to input devices, Microsoft rule in my opinion.

I'm currently using one. I'm at work. I sit in front of a keyboard all day.

This is definitely over a year old and on its first set of Energisers.

Great deal. If I can find one for home, this would be a definite bonus!

EDIT: Can you confirm it's not this one?

I dislike wireless (if only because of unfounded worries about blips in the connection!!) but MS do make some quality keyboards (and mice). For this price its a steal, AND the letters wont rub off onto your fingers in three weeks!

Hi everyone, voted hot as I use one of these everyday at work (for those of you concerned about battery performance - they last "for ages")

Also (and don't mean to be a kill-joy sorry) but if you cant get to Tesco, Play.com has these on "sale" for £18. http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3272564/Microsoft-Wireless-Optical-Desktop-1000-keyboard-mouse/Product.html

Just looked on their website and it is £19.97 so hopefully it will be cheaper in store.

I think the £19.97 one is the top picture I just posted (the square one). That came off the Tesco website.

In my experience, its not the keyboard batteries that keep going flat but those in the mouse. For some reason the problem seems to get worse as the mouse gets older. Having said that, if the the batteries in this set all last for two years or more, maybe its time to reconsider.

what kind of tesco stores in london has electronics?

I've got this and im afraid to say that the range is absolutely crap. i wanted to use mine with ps3 from the comfort of sofa -about 2 meters away and it doesnt pick it up. Has to be point blank range only.. so only useful for on the desk -in which case might as well use wireless.

Some bright spark ordered one of these MS wireless keyboard/mouse sets for everyone in our office a couple of years ago. It took a while to realise that the battery low warnings that came and went every day were coming from someone elses mouse but everyone was getting the message on their screen. We have a big stack of them in the storage room now!

I've had other wireless keyboards before including a very very similar Microsoft one and they are a pain - sometimes they work fine, sometimes they don't (delays or missed letters.) Not for me, but this is a good deal in it's own right so voted hot.

My LOGITECH set does not use a USB slot. The Sender plugs into the Standard Mouse & Keyboard PS/2sockets

Yes, but we occasionally want to move mobile phone around once in a while. When was the last time your keyboard left your desk for something other than cleaning? Some people do like to hide their keyboard away which is not in use and wireless is great for them, but otherwise why buy a keyboard you have to pay maintainence costs for?

AND the letters wont rub off onto your fingers in three weeks!

Does anyone know what technology this uses for the letters? The white microsoft keyboards used Laser etching which doesn't wear off until you've worn down the entire keytop but it's apparently harder to do for white lettering on black keys (on in this case, grey keys). It should be possible to identify from a good, high resolution photograph or three of the letters.
