Good find,
I love Fsx but was recently let down by the support for windows 8.1 and loads of errors and issues,
Appears this £4 steam version will cure all of that,
Heat added
#2
I love this game
#3
had no issues on win8. Just need to ensure its service packed up.
#4
My win 8 keeps shutting this game down with a message saying it closed unexpectedly or something. Any ideas?

I'm was running win 8 then upgraded to 8.1 and I've had the same error messages,
Just about to take off and the game would jam up and quit,
Apparently this steam version has been updated for windows 8.1 and multiplayer added aswell,
Mines almost downloaded
Will report back if any issues

Bought this at this price just before Christmas.

Works fine on my Windows 8.1.

No issues whatsoever.

try 1000+ steam games. with 20% played :(.

Thank you loads!
Been itching to play this since I took a basic flight lesson last year.

Bought this before christmas aswell. Running Windows 8.1 x64 Home Premium x64. No problems with it

It's a shame that as part of the licensing conditions the developer can't improve the graphics :(
#12
Great game & not to be missed at this price. I have been playing it on my Microsoft Surface Pro tablet (I5-3317u / Intel HD4000) & it runs really well , so if you have a laptop or desktop around these specs then take a gamble !

I just bought this (so I can fly a jumbo)!

Thanks to HUKD over the years, my collection now stands at 450 games with only 16% completion.
#14
Bought, thanks!

Damn you HUKD ;) ..

I was wanting some good Post-Boxing deals, and i end up buying this ...

Great price, have some heat man <3

Great game and worth it at that price. Also no problems with it on Windows 8 not upgraded to 8.1 though

The game is great if you like aircraft. Just make sure you have a decent machine. It's also still well supported by the mod community, free and paid. There are some great ones out there, you can have carriers and land on them, launch from them etc.

Here is one of my favourite mods- it can be a little tricky to fly but certainly gets you around faster than most.....

Will this work with a 2013 MacBook air?
#19
Is this OK with Windows 7 ?

surely even if they can't officially improve the graphics, I'd expect perhaps the modding community to step in and do that (hopefully)

Yes im on 8.1 also, I also have the steam version and this is happening!

I have not even managed to play the game once yet and purchased it for this price the other week.

Laptop is definitely powerful enough etc so I have no idea what is causing the issue!

anyone recommend a decentish joystick that doesn't break the bank? seen a madcatz one at currys for £20 and the black widow one off amazon for £25
#26
been posted a number of times over the past couple of week.

ITS A POOR PORT ( as I own it ) - Its not even a poor try @ plane X - Developer has already said THIS IS THE FINAL PRODUCT and its needs a lots of fixing and patching.

The deal is also spam as far as I am concerned as its been 3.99 since the start of the steam sale

Hot, just bought, bought a new computer for Elite Dangerous, so will be playing this as well, was always put off when this came out due to the spec of the PC required, hopefully an I7, 32GB Ram and R9 280 DualX graphics card will be enough !!!!

I've been using the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Joystick for Elite Dangerous, works really well, its £35 on amazon, I got it for £30 from CCL 2 months ago, so you might be able to find it cheaper, big solid stick with a good throttle, lots of programming options, so should work well (currently downloading FSX):

I wouldn't call it spam, I just bought the game because of this post, not had a PC capable of playing decent games for the last 5 years, so just bought a new I7 PC for Elite Dangerous (I bought the original in 1984 on day of release for my BBC Model B), so I completely missed the Steam sale as this is my first steam game, so this brought it to my attention.

It's an A-12 on the deck of the USS Intrepid in New York. I think most well known from Will Smith hitting golf balls off the wing of it in I Am Legend. They also have the world record holding BA Concorde and the prototype Shuttle there as well so it's well worth a visit.

A-12 is the early predecessor to the SR-71 mod I like. They have A-12 mods too. Great freebie F22, F35 mods around as well. Lots and lots of free planes that are pretty easily added.

Be warned though, you may need to disable the DX10 preview in the graphics settings to make them display properly in the game- you do with this SR-71 mod.

Where is the best place to pickup some graphic mods for this games? The defaults even when turned up to all on and full distance are showing their age.

Been trying to locate stock for Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Joystick to use on fsx steam version, out of stock everywhere unless you want to pay silly money on Ebay?

Anyone know where else to try?

Also runs fine on my windows 8.1 with updated graphics drivers for R270

Sorry, I think you can blame Elite - I've seen lots of people using it for this and it was released just before Christmas.

I got mine just before xmas as an open box return from Amazon for £30 - they'll probably get more in.

Should probably mention, DCS: World is free with the option to buy extra aircraft as and when you want them, and it is by far the greatest flight sim ever created. I had years of enjoyment out of FSX and it is still worth a look at this price. But if you want the best flight dynamics and systems modeling, not to mention combat, DCS: World is a better option now.
