Do they not realise there are literally millions of Wii's sat gathering dust? Its the Yorks Multi Gym of the current age (everyone bought one, nobody uses it after the first month).
#2
Not a chance im paying £130

although im excited about this ill wait till it drops in price
#3
I'm looking forward to this but £100 is the max I'm paying.
#4
i will get one of these when they are aroun 100 pounds
#5
Why is everyone upset about this? You can't actually buy it, Play have just reacted to MS and their RRP. When this is ready to be released of course it's going to be cheaper. I find it odd considering the site we are posting on that everyone is acting so naively and so ready to jump on the whinefest bandwagon.
#6
When these hit the bargain bins in a few months I might pick one up.
#7
This isn't a deal. This is RRP.

I cannot think of a single reason to buy this. It supports a maximum of two players, there are no games for it (i dont count party games as games). It's inaccurate (tech radar said that it couldnt tell if they were steering left or right on the silly driving game), it's massively over priced. Unbelievably, if a game doesnt support "sitting down", then you cant sit down while playing. Since when was sitting down a special feature in a game. If you are considering buying one of these then hang your head in shame for the blinkered sheep you are.
#9
It'll be a flop just like PS3 Move (or what ever its called)
#10
I have to agree with the other statements here, this isn't going to shift in serious numbers until it's a lot cheaper and even then it'll be for novelty value only. All the videos I've seen show erratic control of on screen action and even though I'm not a console player (KB+Mouse FTW), if I want to look like a kangaroo on speed I'll use my dust gathering Wii.
#11
Shocking. Also no milo? pfft.

A bit like the Wii really. It's just the people playing the games are so bad they don't realise.

Well, if they can sort the technology out so that it does work, and work well, i'd certainly consider it! Merging the best bits of the Wii and XBox / PS3 will be incredible. Having said that, inaccuracy will render it a useless piece of expensive plastic.
I guess, like most technologies, the early adopters (usually parents like myself) will get stung with over-priced, poorly-performing technology. Wait a bit, for the next iteration, and have it all....perhaps.
As regards 'sitting down', if i'm waving my arms about then it's impractical to sit down and so I don't have an issue with that.
#14
Until I read a whole load of great reviews, instead of the overwhelmingly grave dissapointments from testers, I don't think I will waste my money on this - overpriced and ineffective.

A novelty item that will seem to impress you when you first try it but later you'll realise it just doesnt work as you hoped and will no-doubt be sold off on flee-bay for a fraction of what you wasted on it.
suspended#15
What's the point of posting a deal at RRP?
It's way overpriced and destined to fail too.
#16
I have 2 children and regularly play 3 player. This is impossible with Kinect, yet is supposed to be for the whole family.
#17
As for the sitting down issue. If you have a disability which prevents you from being able to stand. Then it's useless, so theres another strike against it with regards to competition from competing input methods.

you see I thought it would have been clever to integrate browsing/media playback features into this
image just watching a movie and being able to pause, rew etc by hand gestures
i dont know if i would buy this or not.
I'll wait till others have paid for it ;)

Maybe so, but the most it will cost for me to give move a try is £35 and I will be at least satisfied with it's solid performance.http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/consoles/hands-on-playstation-move-review-698046

What a surprise, a person bashing Kinect. Just happens to be a Playstation fanboy, I expected no less.

Calm down, I did a common mistake. I did "your" when I should have done "you're" :p

At least I didn't make a absurd statement. :{

If youve got no arms youre probably not a gamer. I dare say there are a vast number of people who dont have the use of their legs who are gamers. This will predominantly exclude those people. As the being a playstation fan, I try to be objective, but in this case Kinect just has so much against that I would hate to see less informed people waste money on it. I have many friends and 1 family member who own xbox 360s all of whom are bemused by microsofts direction on this one and will not be getting one. They are relying on the ignorance of the general population to sell this.
#24
i wont pay more than £35 for this, they ain't mugging me off again like they did with that crappy wifi dongle.
#25
wait & see if it works 1st before spending 100 or more on it.so far i've heard nothing but negative comments on it from the people who tried it.
#26
Wouldn't want to buy this after buying guitar hero 3 (with the guitar) at launch for 70 pounds and stopped playing it after a month. For those people who actually is going to buy it, you as wait till there's more games for the kinect. Most of the game we know right now is the equivalent of Nintendo Wiisport and Wiiplay etc. Oh yeah hello? this is hotukdeals not coldretailprice.

shopto.net price £125

Only 5 pound less. Better get it on game as you can get points off that and well later on you can buy your very expensive limited edition games for cheap or in fact save up to buy the 3DS.

This has been deisgned to give you full body immersion in a game. Hence the title and menaing of the word KINECT. If you want to sit buy a Wii or a Sony PS3 with it flashing sex toy. But if you had a disability especially not being able to stand you really wouldnt be looking at buying anything at all especially games that require full body physics.
#33
KINECT = MICRO$OFT'S BEST JOKE EVER!
#34
Listen all, everyone has there opinions on price and capabilites but how can you compare this to the Wii. Has anyone seen the specs for this and compared to the Wii. When the Wii came out it was like they had made made the DS a bit bigger. Graphics were crap and games appealed only to that of a 5YO.

R&D is a killer and puts a lot of businesses out on their ear especially when they get it wrong. Marketing is the key and to market it to a new audience and not existing one is a bold move.

What you got to remeber in all of this is that fact that millions of pounds of R&D was ploughed into this on par to that of a new console. This puts huge constraints on making it work or lose millions.

MS Seem to have a marketing strategy on their hands with they planned release and game packages available on release date. Why target a market already owning a XBOX 360 where this audience only expects they biggest and most intense gaming experience. Who is there biggets rival in all of this, Nintendo. What market shall will target, the family one and at Christmas as well. How many have kids or no a people with kids who get what they want and especially when it comes to christmas day. MS know this and that is who they are targetting. Especially as they are shipping them with bundles of the new upgraded lowest end Arcade package release.

R&D costs are diabolical and to target this market is to hope they increase their actual users not add an extra peripheral to their existing customers. This gives market confidence to developers for them to actually develop games that the KINECT has potential to work with. This is when it will benefit all the sceptical hardcore gamers out there.

I worked on this project briefly and I am not sceptical but am looking forward to future. It will be a sucess in the long term but the hardest is selling it to the general public and this is mainly to those who have not yet ventured and bought an XBOX 360.

Trust me if it sells we will all get to witness full body physics in games we owners are more used to playing.

Unlike most I will have mine on release day mainly for my little un but those waiting until its £35 will have along wait, expect Sony's new flashing Sex toy add on to be less than that in very quick time.

MS are taking Nintendo market and they will succeed purely based on hardware capabilities alone.

PS3 has already sunk and unfortunately ran out of life jackets.

Developers are now in limbo waiting for consumer reaction after launch date and ignoring everyones comment in the build up before they plough their million into R&D and bring us gaming never before witnessed. PS3 on otherhand came up with idea if MOVE failed at least one half of popualtion could find other uses for it shoddy little controller stick
#35
MOVE = Sony way of just blatantly copying Nintendo. Developers woke up one morning and thought just copy the Wii,stick a little ball on the end, and make it light up different colours, and we will tell people we designed it.

Nintendo Motion plus sales up on last year, why, because Sony bought them all coloured them all in black and stuck ping pong balls with different coloured LEDs in them. And added £15 on top of original Wii controller price just to make a little bit of profit. Not incuding the 50p for ping pong ball

For all the SOny fans reading through this thread

Sony idea of upgrades include bigger hard drive (you can do that yourself with a screwdriver and a scan of ebuyer for better HDD) and a slimmer verison that they had to remove backwards compatibility for the older consoles which was there biggest mistake to date. A bluray drive as standard but in todays market is really low spec and now a 3D update which can run games at 1080p cause their hardware isnt capable and also needs a upgraded £2000 tv to function. So want 3D with your PS3 then sorry can only have 720p.

The only difference between the 2 consoles in todays market on a whole is the fact of Bluray but Bluray players retailing at less than £50 and PS3 retailing more than £100 than MS doesnt make it a wise investment.

You criticise the ps3 here but your arguments are flawed on numerous levels.

1) Sony increased the hard drive size as have MS with their Xbox upgrades (120gb to 250gb elites), so yeah both have upgraded the hard drive side.

Also you state that having the option to go to ebayer to upgrade your hard drive is a negative, surely this is a positive as it gives every ps3 owner to purchase the hard drive they wish and increase the size of their ps3 with ease, rather than in the case of xbox owners paying extortionate prices to purchase an xbox hard drive, which works out much more expensive.

2) You state that removing backwards compatibility for "older consoles," however just to clarify only ps2 compatibility was removed and the ps3 has FULL PS1 playback capabilities. Additionally could you please explain how this is the biggest mistake? Surely this makes good business sense in order to reduce the cost of the ps3 and maintain its competitiveness.:-s

3)Could you please explain how the ps3 blu ray drive is a low spec? :-S Can you give details to validate this? Also im sure if you ask many xbox owners, im sure they wouldn't be proud of the dvd drives that are in the xbox 360,

4) You criticise that 3D is 720p for games, however this is not as significant as you have made out because how many titles can you name that are native 1080P?

Furthermore 3D photo support and 3D Blu Ray movie support is coming at full 1080p so i guess that a major "upgrade.

These are just in response to your statements and already this demonstrates that your simplified statement of "The only difference between the 2 consoles in todays market on a whole is the fact of Bluray" is simply just wrong.

Whats the point in any control scheme if it lacks accuracy. Honestly, really what's the point. If you feel really strongly that you have to defend this accessory then fine, but as has been said by many people, the move is soooo much more than a wii remote. The navigation controller alone is more advanced than a wii remote. Now seriously, without any bias lets just look at the solid facts. Which motion controller is the most accurate? Move...Which controller supports the most players? Move...Which controller supports the most games? Move...Which controller is cheaper? Move (please dont wheel out microsofts graph regarding total costs. I have a ps-eye, to use move, the majority of people will only be required to pay £35..£55 if they need the camera)... Which controller costs the least to deveop for? Move...Which controller is the most inclusive? Move...Which controller has any kind of feedback? Move...Which controller is the most stable? Move...Which controller is the most versatile? Move... These are facts. I genuinely, sincerely don't understand why you need to defend kinect so vehemently when it loses out in every aspect that should be fundamental to the design of an input device. Now obviously, you will now retort with either something about it being a wii clone which would only highlight your lack of insight from a technological perspective, or by calling it a sex toy, which will highlight your juvenile mentality.

Hmmmm... released 18 months later, was 9 Million behind, now only 3.6 million behind. Doesn't that make it 5.4 million ahead in LTD sales?
