    Hello, all..

My only reservation would be that the 2 Lifecams a couple of our schools have bought come with phenomenally bad drivers.. Well, it's not that they're bad, so much as utterly blummin' massive - 100+ MB for a webcam? I think not.

Also, we had to copy the installer CD to a folder on the PC, and install it from there to allow other users to use the camera. Nasty!

Windows 7 32bit and 64bit 30.2mb, thats about normal right. I'm sure the driver it self is actually about 1mb or something the rest is the software? (I maybe wrong)

Hi CDR, would be tempted with that idea but he goes "bonkers" some nights, all over the room. going to look at the idea 888 mentioned the mini cam. up high and out of the way. many thanks

Have to say, I don't see why this is so hot. As previously mentioned, unless you are on a campus or at work there is very little chance you have anything like the upload bandwith to stream HD video, making this little use over a cheapie for most.

there was one big thing I forgot to mention about the muvi is battery life is about 2 to 3 hours and the 2gb card that comes with it takes about 2 hours recording (upgradeable to 8gb). It does have a voice activated recording, but I don't think that is any good to you.

I just found it, it could also be used as a web cam.

I was actually referring to the 'rest of the world, give or take' - as various countries use variations on PAL, SECAM, NTSC etc etc...

The colour encoding system (PAL, SECAM, NTSC) has nothing to do with the line or frame rate, sound carrier offset or applicable frequency bands. The latter four are denoted by the system code (A, B, I, K, M, etc.) As an example, System M (525 lines, 29.97 frames ps, 4.5MHz sound) is used with both NTSC (e.g. Canada) and PAL (e.g. Brazil).

It's also worth mentioning interlacing. Although our television service is 25frames ps, it is actually 50fields ps. The picture updates 50 times a second, although each single part of the picture will be updated only once every 25th of a second. This results in smoother motion on pans and greater detail on static shots -- humans don't generally notice the loss of vertical resolution during pans or fast movement.

Just gone to order and sadly, it's now about £45, so expired.

Yeah, appreciate that... I really really really wish I hadn't said a thing as all I really wanted to say was that 30fps (or 29.97!) is fine for a webcam. Some posters were saying it's rubbish rate but it's certainly better than most webcams at 15fps.

Note to self, keep it simple :p

I thought there were supposed to be loads of places selling this for the same price :p for those who has been questioning about this deal, I think this is the answer.

I was hoping to order mine mid this month after the statement been sent out, what the hell. Just purchased four from CBC computers, I have used them twice before, items arrived very quickly.

If anyone is still interested in this CBC Computers = £41.58 delivered for 1 item
or £38.81 each if you spend over £50 free delivery

mine came today, very good quality when i eventually got it out of the box, think you need a phd in box disasembling.

have a problem though, the picture breaks up , at the bottom, not flickering but breaking up, very odd.

edit: sorted it , tried a single usb2 slot, not from my monitor hub, perfect now

I guess a shared usb port doesn't have enough bandwidth for the high resolution ;-)
CBC shipped mine yesterday (Friday) so should get them on Monday :-D
