great camera...

Good camera, there is an issue with the microphone though, it has a slightly high pitched squeek when you use the microphone.

You can notice it when your recording with audio and then play it back but it doesn't bother me as I use it to talk to family on Skype.

That's not a like for like comparison. The Microsoft one has auto focus and takes 5MP still photos, the Logitech doesn't...

Literally bought this from Amazon yesterday for £35.

Been looking for one of these for a while, just ordered. Ta.

I hope all who order off PC World get their order...
I ordered a Logitech 270 for £15.99 off their site when it was on special offer..
Never received it... Phoned em and they said give it a week, a week later nothing...
They then said do you want the webcam or refund.. I said webcam... they sent a refund and now the webcams gone back up to £24.99...
I feel ripped off...

I ordered this last time it was on here for £27.99, great camera for the money!

Anybody tried this with a Mac or Hackintosh?
I'm looking for a webcam with mic that is compatible with Facetime.

Apparently the auto focus doesn't work on a Mac, but if anyone has found a solution I would be interested to hear.

Yea. i got this camera about a year ago. it's been awesome. great for over msn/skype. i don't have teh squeek problem, in regards to Hackintosh, it worked fine on mine, 10.5.8, but can't vouch for all!

Can you record onto your hard drive wiv this?
Me and missus been thinking of making some, ahem,' home movies' and were toying wiv buying a HD camcorder.
This is much cheaper though and wouldnt look obtrusive when me missus is, ahem, 'paying the window cleaner' (_;)

Great webcam. Looks the business and is clear as day. Will be discontinued because this one is 720p - they've just released it's big brother the Lifecam Studio 1080p. £69.99 for that one though - this is where my money would be going (if i didn't already own one!)

Great find thanks

I bought your Mrs the Logitech one mate, pin sharp for what 'we' need it for.

Don't go spoiling her with two, I don't want driver conflicts for when I connect to her on msn :D

Not completely true the logitech takes 3mp pictures but video at 1280x 720 and the microsoft one has video at the same resolution and 5mp (interpolated).

I suspect that they both interpolate up from 1280x720 to 3 or 5mp in which case the logitech is actually better. Who actually uses a web cam to take still photos with anyway?

The logitech also works with OSx 10.4 out of the box, the software doesn't but I use it with skype fine on a mac.

As for the autofocus, well you win that one

I'd recommend the logitech over the MS one anyday based on price and useablility.

Very good camera, and still able to display pretty sharp images even on a low light, I would recommended at this price.
