£79.99 on O2, Vodafone and Virgin pay as you go upgrade. However all CPW pay as you go phones are unlocked.

Only in white, orange or Matt black, this is a cracking deal for a sim free, 4G hd screen phone.

Also come with Office 365 for free for 12 months. This is worth £59 on its own.

Possibly another £5 off via Quidco for pay as you go purchase. NB I got nowhere with the linked HDUK £30 off code!

Topcashback pay £5.25 for a PAYG phone.

how does this compare with nokia Lumia 830

Very well. In fact it's almost the same phone.

The biggest difference is build quality. The Lumia 830 both looks and feels like an expensive phone thanks to it's metal/polycarbonate construction. The Lumia 640 is well built, but is completely plastic, so it doesn't feel as premium.

The main camera on the Lumia 830 is better. It's 10MP vs. 8MP. The sensor size is bigger too, so it can capture more light, and it has Optical Image Stabilisation to keep images from blurring and further improve low-light photos.

Otherwise everything else is basically the same. The Lumia 640 does have a plus over the 830; it's got a bigger battery (2500mah vs 2200mah), so the battery should last longer between charges.

love lumia phones especially the way they are built and I like the way Windows phone software operates but the apps store is a big let down... some of the most popular apps are not even on Windows phone, the well known popular apps haven't been updated for a while and haven't got the updated features. Even Microsoft own apps are better on ios or androids.
I wish they get this sorted....
+1.
It's the biggest fault with these phones Imo. I had around 20-30 well used apps on my last android, but of those I've only now got 2-3 on my Lumia. Not even an official BBC news app. MS app store is truly pants.
I never understand why people want apps for everything. Like BBC news for example, why not just visit the site with your browser in the normal way? A lot of the 25 million android apps are anyway little more than a customised mini browser that only goes to one site.

Yes this is cheapest you can get

Not for EE upgrade?

It's amazing what you can get for the money these days. You may even be able to sell the Office 365 code if it uses the same activation process as on Windows 8.1 tablets.

Probably the best value phone out there right now.

Wow, deservedly hot imo. And I'm seriously tempted here. But according to Gsmarena, there's about 6-7 versions of the Lumia 640 - any idea which this is please?

We only have "one" version in the uk, it's single sim, 4g, 1gb ram, quad core, 8gb internal memory.
I'm waiting for the 640 xl that's out in the next few weeks.
Hot and a seriously good price for a phone that only came out Tuesday.

I'm not seeing it at £79.99. I can't find any pays upgrade price.

Can things downloaded via apps (eg. videos downloaded using YouTube downloader app) be transferred via USB or is it still restricted access via USB?

Was close to buying yesterday, and tempted by the Moto G, glad I waited, except I am 10 days (I think) away from a new upgrade.....

Anyone able to explain CPWs policy that matches their own upgrade prices? Failing that, I'll do it myself when I get time.
#11
Cracking price, I'm waiting it out for one with a really good camera (a future 740?), but still very hot.

The 735 can still be had at a decent price, with £40 off and £25 Quidco making it £124.

Forgive my ignorance, what does it show a £17 monthly cost if it's a PAYG upgrade?

I'm willing to hold off up to a year my old phone is still good, it's just not got the app support it used to have.

Just went through 7 old PAYG O2 cards in some desperate attempt to get this deal, just like I always do when a payg upgrade deal appears, and they always fail.

I get to card number 7 and it's only bloody worked! Result!

Amazing price, and I actually got it. Woohoo! Thanks OP

I don't understand how these payg upgrades work. I'm on giffgaff and want to just put my sim into it, can I go and buy one for £79.99 and do this?

Great thanks for the info I've really only got this for the office promotion but I might sell my 830 if this is any good

Microsoft's own apps (the ones that are built into the system on WP 8.1) are being completely re-written for Windows 10, which will be out later this year.

Just picked up the LTE version at my local - the employee didn't know much about phone tech, by me "educating" him he discounted it to £99 with the O2 top-up, loool; using his staff discount. Nice dood!

Just ordered at £79.99 o2 payg upgrade to collect tomorrow, you need to have a sim as in post 24 to qualify. Hard to find the link but best advice is to go through payg upgrades and find the phone. TCB is £5 more off

This or the 2nd Gen Moto G?
Lack of apps being my main concern

Hmm. I was thinking of changing networks coz my Talk Mobile contract is up, but if I stay I could upgrade to this Lumia 640 at only £11 per month which includes 250 mins, 5000 texts & 500mb data.

Don't know what to do now as the Talk Mobile upgrade is pretty good & means not having to fork out a min of £99 in 1 go, plus then what it would cost on PayG to get a similar amount of calls, texts & data.

The offer is available by searching payg upgrade phones - still available

I think the page is having issues, the upgrade price wasn't showing for me, that's why I asked in a previous post.

It shows various options £79.99 is the phone outright if you have a O2 sim payg - no other cost

Best way to search is deal finder box and select payg upgrade and select windows operating system phone then click Lumia 640

If you want monthly or anything else choose your selection via deal finder box as you like

The website is flaky and posting direct links here don't seem to work

Yes providing you have the phone and sim number

crazy, looking to upgrade a contract, seems cheaper to switch to pay as you go and top up than to get this on contract with a decent number of minutes?

anyone know if they would let you buy this phone if you have an o2 contract, and just want to get the phone?
