So this is just there for the fun of it then.
The end user licensee must be a student in a participating school or college. What you are suggeesting is fraud and makes you as much a pirate as someone who gets this from a torrent. :|

good price.
#4
looks a good deal but how do you know if your kids schools are included in the list
#5
any child in school is eligible, so any parents can use this offer legally, if you have more than one child the site says you can register each of them even if they are 5 and in the infants.
I was looking to upgrade to win 7 this is a great deal.

If everybody " make up a students name, no checks are made." then the concession would be removed from those of us who DO have children and who WOULD benefit from this concession.

A good find at this price, however Open Office does exactly the same and is free to download.

So people who are unable to have children should not only have to pay child benefit and for the education of those who can but also be denied cheap software? What a caring parent you must be...

Not to mention all those life saving medicines/operations I haven't needed???

Why is everyone so hostile? This is a genuine attempt by Microsoft of providing a ligitimate copy to private people and get everyone "use to" MS Office, and to ensure it stays number one in corporate enviroments (that's where the money is, not with consumers.). So don't feel guilty buying it, even if you are "borderline" with the criterias, you are doing MS a favour.

BTW, pirating and using MS Office is also supporting MS and they are inofficially not too unhappy about private consumers pirating (any increase in usage, legit or not, will increases the chances that MS Office will stay number one). I personally have no need for MS Office :)

I think you are missing the point, you don't have to have children to be eligible for student software, one option is to be a student yourself.

However by the sounds of it you have already justified to yourself Microsoft owes you cheap software so carry on...

What utter nonsense! MS are more than happy to let home users buy this rather than going the pirate route!

Of course its a hot deal.

you DO NOT have to be a student to buy this, just enter the name of your local comp and make up a students name, no checks are made.

That is a really naff comment, sure you can lie like that, but note that by doing so you are breaking the terms of the licence and are thus pirating - regardless of how much you paid for it. The price paid is for a licence which entitles you to use the software within said terms which you agreed to, if you are paying for something and using outside of those terms you are pirating.

You have the choice of pirating for free, or pirating for £38.95. Paying £38.95 to fool yourself might not be deamed a deal.

I'm not going to spout about the moral implications of this all, I just felt I had to point out the above statement so that people were not mislead in to purchasing something thinking they are only doing something which is "half wrong".

Ps. Genuine students (generally high ed students) can get MSOffice cheaper anyway - around £10 on average on a legitmate cd/dvd. People at big companies and some government departments can get it around £10 also.

Still is fraud though and your breaking the license agreement and thus you could be fined and stuff just like a pirate...

This is meant for STUDENTS guys, really its not "unfair" because think of it this way student have to pay their fees and stuff so MS give them a discount anyway. Thankfully for me my University is a member of msdnaa so i get pretty much all MS software for free including Windows 7/xp/visual studios, just a shame Office isnt on there but i will be purchasing that at a later date.

So much aggression on this post is quite unbelievable :P. good price providing your a student so voted hot.

For a site that appears to be about people helping each other, it's surprising how often a well meaning post triggers an outpouring of anger and animosity. If you can't add anything helpful or constructive, why not just move on and make a pot of tea.
