Students get a 4 year subscription to Office 365 (2 computers + 2 mobiles) for £59.99 (works out at £1.25 a month), however, until 28th September you also get a years' free Xbox Live Gold (normally £30-35) - which takes the price of office down to about 63 pence a month!

Also worth noting that this includes 27GB of cloud storage for the 4 years too!

I did check but this deal hadn't been posted before ;). 60 quid for a year of xbox live and 4 years of office seems like a pretty good deal to me!

How does it include 27gb cloud storage? It says 20 there.
And if you have bought this, did it ask for any proof of you being a student?

Do you not need an .ac.uk email address to qualify seeing that the office is the university version?
#6
It mentions in the features section that you get 7GB and the university one gets an extra 20GB for 27 total
#7
When I tried you needed to verify you were a student via school verification code, ISIC(?) or some other method.
Having none of these meant I could not get the deal.
Shame but hot deal for Students never the less.

You need a ac.uk student email address. Good thing I have one :p

I'm a student so have an ac.uk email but we have been told we get to keep our email for life :D
#10
I'm a student and have no ac.uk email, due to being open university so I doubt it's the be all and end all to have the email.

Everyone with a Hotmail account automatically has 7GB of SkyDrive storage, this adds another 20GB. BTW If you are not a student you can get an extra 50GB of cloud storage for £16pa. Bluudy good IMO.

After the four year subscription is up, can you then not use the office program's until you renew?
#16

#17
Does anyone know if you could sell the live code after you activate office or is it tied to your Microsoft account?

All SkyDrive users receive 7 GB of storage with SkyDrive for free. Additional storage can be purchased if needed. Customers with an active Office 365 Home Premium or Office 365 University subscription receive an additional 20 GB of SkyDrive storage, per subscription, for a total of 27 GB of storage. This additional storage is not available during trial periods.
This additional 20 GB of SkyDrive storage is applied to the SkyDrive account that is linked to the Microsoft account used to create the Office 365 subscription account.

After the four year subscription is up, can you then not use the office program's until you renew?

if you pay for a new home subscription.

you automatically log in when you open an office program and it confirms your entitlement - remember, it's a subscription.
this allows you to move round the permanent installs (2 at a time for university) and ensures you don't use it when you haven't paid.
i believe that the install has a 30 day grace period for validations, to allow for roaming around and not having an internet connection and then a period where it enters reduced functionality mode, tells you off and asking you to renew before cutting you off.

so yes, you can use it for around 4months before you renew.
#21
How does this work? Do you get a code? I already have a subscription for 1 year, but I'm a student so it'd be great to get a code to apply when the current one expires.
#22
Might have to buy this just before my student loan goes in live broke for a few days.
#23
wow, that's insane!

Although you could look at it that you're in effect paying for microsoft office when you could use an alternative like openoffice or the iwork programs, that's still a really good deal with xbox live gold!

I had a 1 month trial of this but has since expired. now the only difference is that everytime I start a program like outlook which is my favorite, it come up with notification asking to activate, so I close then I only have that pinky notification on top of the application asking to reactivate. Now my concern is will anything happen after a certain time coz otherwise I will just use it like that

I think you get a code you can sell. This is good for me as my xbox died a few years back and I made the switch to PS3.

Seems a good deal then especially if the live code is sellable. Only thing is that there's no iPad app out yet, iPhone only which is abit pointless.

Great deal; wish I was a student now (without all that debt ofcourse (_;) )

Well students like me can't find a job. So probably some serious thinking went into it and they decided to give away live membership..

If you read the terms and conditions it says quite clearly that the code is transferable but it is NOT for sale. I plan on giving it to one of my Xbox loving mates and getting then to buy me some beers...i reckon £20 is a fair deal for them and me! I think this is a good deal...btw if you have am android device like my fonepad that is not supported through google play then you can download and side load the apk from this link....it works fine!

If you cant find a job look up your local Officer Training Corps with the army, massively rewarding, and non deploy-able, and can quit at any time. Can get management qualifications from them too. Plus over the summer I spent a month in Germany assisting with some training and got 1k pay ;)
However yes we few students do sit around all day on the xbox, and all night drinking, so nice find here, heat added

Can you buy this in store, say PC World? If so, where does the check of student status occur, at point of purchase or online registration?
#33
Thank you! Have just purchased! Also my Xbox Live runs out in November so good timing!
#34
It may be worth searching around for University 2010 if you can find one. I got a version with lifetime updates for 3 PCs earlier this year for £66.21. It was just at the time of the changeover to this 365 crap.

You don't need a special email address if you can prove to them that you're in full time education, either at a Sixth Form, a College or a University.

Also nets you 60 Skype minutes every month, I believe. I don't have an Xbox so I haven't lost out too much from when I bought the deal ages ago sans-XBL.

you do get an .ac.uk through the OU. I had one, also you qualify to register for an NUS card during which you pay an extra £1.50 to make it an ISIC card :)

Can this be used on 2 computers
