These prices are to match currys and Amazon who are discounted. Today is currys last day so I'd imagine all 3 retailers will be putting their prices back up this week

I do like this machine but the price was just too much for me to justify. I ended up buying a HP equivalent for just over £700 a few months ago and glad I did

10.5% cashback through topcashback if you are a Plus member.

I'm not sure what the standard member cashback is.
They claim the 10.5% includes a 5% bonus for Plus members, whereas it's only a 1% bonus for standard members, but I don't know if that means 5% of the full amount or 5% of the 10%, which could account for it being 10.5% instead of 10%.

If a standard member can tell us what discount they would get from topcashback, we can work out if it is worth the upgrade to Plus to get the extra discount!

Amazing hardware and design but terrible QC, returned mine within a week - couldn't undock/dock the tablet properly with one side getting stuck, mine arrived (bought new) with scratches on it and the keyboard tactile response is best described as 'mushy' - I kept making mistakes typing. Genuinely really wanted to like this product but by the end was just glad to be rid of it (and Microsoft customer service is abysmal, it took an hour on the phone to get an RMA number - yes, you can do it online but not for the Office 365 subscription which was free but with a £40 cost as part of a bundle).

As others have said, plenty of good or better machines out there for less money. As a concept machine it's amazing though.

I really want a Surface Book, they look great and I love the design. But I hear bad things about the reliability of these and at this price it's just too risky. I got one the of the Surface 3 128GB machines and I completely love it. Amazing battery life, reliable and quick, was only around £400 with the type cover, and while I'd prefer a surface 4 type cover cover or the real keyboard of a surface book these prices and reliability issues just aren't doing it for me.

Here's hoping for a budget Surface Book in their next lineup, with a bit more reliability.

Just FYI, I use a Surface Pro 3 (because the 4 isn't a worthy upgrade IMO) with a Surface Pro 4 Type Cover - the glass touchpad is pretty amazing and the keyboard and tactile response is near perfect - I have no idea how they botched it so badly with the Surface Book. You can attach the Surface 3 to a SP4 Type Cover (but it will look odd) - I had the non-Pro Surface 3 but found I didn't use it enough to justify keeping and it was annoying when the battery ran flat and being micro-USB you had to wait for it to charge a bit before it would be usable again.
