Are folk just trolling on this thread? 4gb is fine for Windows, a phone that requires 4gb is a bloated os, they are pretty solid devices though arguably over priced but as someone commented so are Apple devices - see iPad Pro. It will do much more than your android or iOS device though as its full blown Windows which it runs capably. Horses for courses but good price if you want a tablet that does pc tasks (and runs tons of classic awesome pc games great).

so do the iPads!

For what you get I think these are great value but the keyboards are pricey for what they are but very useful. You cant really compare this to a ipad/ipad pro as these are so much more versatile and powerful.

However if you dont need the power of the Pro 4 the Surface 3 4gb is excellent. For me the 3 4gb is a more convenient size and weight and plenty powerful enough for anything I ask of it, its also got better battery life and is charged via micro USB. The 4 is just too heavy for prolonged use as a tablet in my experience.

Just to mention I own this tablet and its rock solid and totally reliable. , in fact it's probably the best tablet I have ever used and it even runs a lot of new games on low settings

Exactly. Ok its a very different league but the Linx8 only has 1gb RAM and happily runs Windows, my dad has one of those. If you actually needed more than 4gb (not thinking you need it) then id expect you actually need an i7 cpu to make use of it.

I think it comes down to how much typing you do. If doings hours of typing a day the Mac Air keyboard is better unless you use an external for the Pro 4 with or without docking station. I keep looking at the Surface Book which is a lovely bit of kit with proper keyboard, I just cannot justify it when I have a desktop and a Surface 3.

Over and over again on gadget postings or reviews do I read how people expect more and more for their money. Vote with your wallets people and don't buy these goods. No-one is forcing you to. Also these companies owe you nothing, they make products to maximise their profits end of.

Can these be upgraded in any way?

Currys/PCworld customer support is terrible IMO would rather pay extra to JL who also include a 3 year guarantee,

Problems with tablet on release are well documented, most if not all problems are now fixed. You have an interesting buying method if its based off the first 5 reviews you read on JL.

I'd spend a bit more and go for the i5 version. £699 minus the 10% cashback.

I use photoshop and sell my work throug social media mostly. I use a desktop pc and my smartphone - I often take photos of artwork to send to clients using my phone. Can someone kindly explain how this device would be benefit me please?

This is a useful comment amongst quite a few uninformed posts. I'm thinking about replacements for out iPads (they work fin at the moment so I'm just keeping up with what is available) so a comment by someone that actually uses the machine (and is happy with it) is very helpful indeed. It does seem a little expensive, we have a Linx 10 that only cost just over £100 including a keyboard (and is a very useful little machine), the Surface Pro must be a far better PC but I'm not sure we could justify paying almost six times as much (because we probably don't need that much mobile computing power).
Helpful post though, many thanks.

Microsoft are screwing people on this in the same way as Apple screwed everyone on everything that they ever marketed.
I certainly agree about Apple products and had resolved not to buy anything else from that company when our iPads bite the dust. This offering from Microsoft seems quite expensive as well, and it is hard to know whether the cost is justified. We have experimented with two small Linx machines (7 and 1010) and been pleasantly surprised considering their low initial cost (about £40 for the Linx7 and just over £100 for the 1010 including a (very good) keyboard). Both run Windows 10 well, but the 7" screen is a bit small to take advantage of the OS, the 1010 is quite a capable little machine. Clearly the Surface Pro range is much more competent that the Linx, but does it justify being so much more expensive.
I suspect the two iPads will last another year yet, so I'm looking to replace them in that timescale. Our experiences with the Linx machines are pushing us towards Windows 10, so it would be really helpful to read informed posts by people who have experience of Microsoft and other Windows tablets (we have probably decided against Apple products).

You could use photoshop in your hotel room without having to drag your desktop with you. A laptop would achieve the same. The advantage this has over a laptop for you is that it's smaller, you could potentially take it to the artwork to use photoshop there, where a laptop may be to big for that. They also have a decent stylus, so again if you use a Wacom on your desktop or similar, less to bring, less to have in your bag and less out on your lap. Maybe having photoshop in front of the artwork is irrelevant to you, in which case, so is a surface.

Can you carry your desktop "into the field"?
Can you use photoshop on your phone?
Would you like to work from the comfort of your sofa while working in photoshop?

Ifixit gave it 2/10 for the difficulty in repairing/upgrading it:

The SSD is replaceable but not easily.

if count that you need keyboard as well the price not 699 but + 100 = 799 (core i5)

Yes the pen good thing for some people - for me to drag drop files just only

When I saw this deal think it is very good deal then emotion gone down --- brains click in and if you think macbook pro 13,3 around £900-£1000 best laptop on the market

Compare
i5-6300U The integrated graphics unit called HD Graphics 520 represents the "GT2" The 24 Execution Units,
Core i5-5257U The integrated Iris Graphics 6100 offers 48 Execution Units (EUs) Macbook twice GPU power
So in real life more quicker Photoshop, games , etc ...

+ Macbook pro 13,3 have the best LCD color gamut screen laptop What I mean that you can edit photos for nearly professional color .

I will be getting macbook pro 13.3 better

MacBook Pro WAS the best on the market but Apple forgot to keep up with the times MBP is now years out of date, this is a better purchase, has better screen, better compatibility and is still current.
