A good price considering it comes with the keyboard and 1 year of Office 365, this comes to 1,283.98 on the Microsoft store at the moment. Don't forget quidco.

Scroll down on the page to see the deal for £768 with McAfee, which I highly advise you to avoid at all costs. Windows 10 includes defender which is better than Mcafee, and free.

There is also a bundle for 748.99 if you dont want Office.

4GB of RAM on what's essentially a high-end laptop running Windows is anything but "fine" Anno Domini 2017; you can saturate the 4GB by just browsing the web, somewhat depending on the browser.

I can browse the web fine on a 1GB Windows tablet, you must be doing something wrong. ;)

The link goes to the bundle with McAfee, if you wanted to save a tenner or so, here's just the typecover, office 365 and i5 Surface Prohttp://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/microsoft-surface-pro-4-typecover-128-gb-office-365-personal-b0420282-pdt.html
Good spot, no one wants mcafee!

That's meaningless! IOS is not a general purpose operating system and it's Apps are optimized for lower amounts of memory! A Surface Pro can run identical software to a PC (in principle!)

4gb of ram? Not brilliant bearing in mind the price
Most devices are more expensive than equivalent from last year, blame brexit or weak pound.

Before saying 4gb is not enough. Go and try it you nay be surprised. Excellent bits of kit as far as I'm concerned. Yes I do own one.

The backlight bleed on the one I had wasn't brilliant either.

You pay for the form factor.

4gb ram is absolutely fine for most tasks. You should know if you require more.

I've got the 8gb SP4 and its absolutely fantastic. Best device I've owned. Battery could always be better, and that's the only thing I'd like to see improved.

Ram isn't a huge issue unless you're a power user. Battery life however is not great.

These are great, i just cant justify moving up, or sideways from my pro 3 though. Just bought the pro 4 keyboard instead, heat added.

Or use ibood and get double the R and sad, along with then pen for 869. This is supposed to be a power user device so agree with others that 8gb is a must.

I will never buy an Apple mac again. Microsoft keeps knocking it out of the park for me these days.
Windows 10 is awesome as well.

is the pen included in the bundle?

cheers, bought for 729 and got the pen off amazon for £39

Lol are people still paying this much for such an under-spec'd item?

Under spec???. If your after a gaming machine you're on wrong thread. given its size weight and portability it's specs more than adequate. I've got sp3 pro and at time paid same price without keyboard. it's great. running several spreadsheets simultaneously without issue which can't say same for alot of PC's / laptop's used in past. Hot for me
#27
They only ever have deals on the lowest specs. Which is ridiculous, given that doubling the RAM and SSD usually already costs an arm and a leg (300 pounds for something that is worth maybe 50), but now the difference is even bigger.

Sorry, I still cannot recommend this machine, because the specs are marginal.

I've been looking thoroughly for a "2-in-1" laptop for work.

The surface SP4 is generally the best, but has a hefty premium on it. 4GB of RAM is under my minimum, I use almost 4GB just browsing, I'd like a bit of headroom for the future.

Also SP4 is a bit dated, no USB-C port like all the other "competitiors" (read: copy cats). SP5 will be out soon, so I'll wait to see what that is like. If it's not good, I think I'll go for the Acer Switch 12 Alpha, cheaper and feature rich. Slightly less high quality than the SP4, but I'll happily save £200-£300 for a less premium feel.

Right now I'm driving 3 monitors, have dreamweaver, SQL server, logmein, IIS, chrome with several tabs and outlook open and I'm using 3.3gb of memory.

Got this for the wife before xmas (for a lot less) and its spot on. If you're running in to limitations on 4gb you've bought the wrong kit anyway.

These really are incredible bits of kit and such a pleasure to use.

Only thing that prevents it achieving perfect status is the relatively poor battery life.

But very much worth the money. (I have the 8GB version)

Hmm all these windows tablet - touch etc ....
Windows 10 need more years to be proper tablet operating system + not many apps you have
Windows 10 can be super fast operating system, but if you do not have any apps to offer The all point to have touch is pointless

Android 10 times better - I will be pre-order Galaxy Tab S3 on 17 March

Why android than Surface 4 ?
1 Cheaper
2 Can do same things as surface ( Play video ; Surf Web , Play Games , run MS Office , Some basic Photo editing apps )
3 O Yes you right I can not run Adobe Photo shop on android and other x64 software . But I have 6 "12" core 32 GB PC with GTX 1070 27 Inch Dell Monitor Where is my work on 27 inch is pleasure , lot of power from CPU and GPU
I can Imagine me working on surface 4 with adobe premier how slow it will be Limited storage 4 GB of ram 2 Cores CPU and integrated GPU What games you can play ?? 720p with super low details
4 I can keep in one hand Where Surface need to place on the desk etc ...
5 Battery Life Android wins
6 Software Optimized for touch on android where Windows 10 Half touch / half mouse

Im not saying that Android will replace your PC no I have Destop PC where is all my works done . I can imagine some student do not have options to have Desktop PC so they need something small

If I will be a student I will be getting min 13.3 or 14 Inch Laptop and tablet

I would never buy a Windows laptop with less than 8Gb (and they can be expanded to, at least , 16Gb normally) so I fail to see why the Surface Pro should be in any different!

Reviews of Windows 10, years of experience....!!!!

Of course this is using a laptop as a "desktop replacement" with (frequently) a full sized monitor and keyboard. Perhaps if a Surface Pro is typically used more like and iPad then 4Gb might be mostly OK.

All very interesting but you forget the iPad - if you want a premium tablet. Just saying.

Erm, try opening Google Maps, and then browse around using StreetView, while having a few more tabs open, and let's see how that 1gb copes then ;)
Especially with Chrome, which is generally the worst of all browsers for mem usage.
