if its only gone down by £5 since it was last posted is it really worth another post? its a good deal, but prices become standard after a while. like the ipad posts, £300 was an amazing deal, now its just standard. xbox 360's for £160, amazing deal, but now its standard price. i think people vote cold when someone else has posted it before and the deal is so similar.

i bought this a week ago for £108. its a good deal and banishes 3 more vistas from the face of the earth.

My hot/cold voting doesn't work anymore but I would have voted hot. Nice price for 3 licences

XP is great, I wouldn't upgrade it. Vista on the other hand is pants, I'd downgrade to xp. Win7 is like a bloated version of xp. It's a system hog that needs most of its features disabled to run nicely . Typical Microsoft. Once the android OS is released Windows will need to do something special.

Have to disagree with you there I am afraid, I have used windows since ver 3.1 in 1990 and IMHO W7 is the best to date by a wide margin.
It is how Windows should be works fine and no crashes in fact I have not had a single crash since installing w7 last year.

I agree, W7 runs very smooth, albeit not as fast as a properly tweaked XP.

Free from vuze, that may have something to do with it. Never understand why some people pay for this kind of thing.

Not sure if you are trolling, but people pay for LEGAL software. If you need a free OS, run Ubuntu, but most of us would prefer to be running windows.

If it was 3 keys for new installations I would definitely add heat, being upgrades I'm not inclined to vote either way.

yeah, not as fast as a tweaked xp, but then a tweaked xp can't fo half of what 7 does...
Getting voted cold by linux or mac trolls no doubt...

Heat added, just over a hundred quid for 3 licenses.
Always annoys me why people moan about 'paying' for windows.... Why not? It's the single most used piece of software on your machine, and yet people begrudge paying the price (in this case) one game for for it... amazing... apparently, software should be 'free'.... and the writers and designers will live on air and fairy dust....

I'm wondering what xp can't do that windows 7 can.Genuine question.

first two off the top of my head is run direct x 10 and ie 9...
oh, and aero interface
homegroups networking
v6 networking
User account control, vastly improved security
built in drive encryption
improved security centre,
improved 'under the hood' networking, more secure, faster, more reliable.
proper 64 bit support...

Oh, I lied about two, but I can't be bothered to continue.
If you were asking a genuine question, google it, there's tons of ways 7 is better. Only reason someone should still run xp, is for vital system compatability issues, or on a severly limited system.

Never pay for software, there are plenty of free alternatives... I know you could pirate it, but consider Ubuntu, etc if all you do is browse the web, email, word editing, etc.. Its a light weight OS, much better than Win.

And can you be sure what else you are installing with your torrent copy?

IMHO there are two items of pirated software that it's best to avoid on your PC, one is the operating system the other is the anti virus software!

When you can buy a copy of W7 for around £40 (S4S) or the one featured here why have all the hassle of a pirate copy?

Really? There s a free alternative to Battlefield? Or COD? Where can I get them?
There may be free alternatives FOR YOU, and there may be alternatives that cost less TO BUY, these do not all add up to free software for everyone.

In your opinion maybe, but many of us who tried it still rather prefer W7 thank you! :)

Voted hot for the price, even though I can get it for free (legit!) via my Uni.
No, it won't self destruct when I graduate. :3

If you like Win XP stay with it and share in the ever increasing pain of getting software properly working on it as more years go by. Win 7 is a good OS considering all its bells and whistles, Vista was a mistake for sure but XP had its day.

Time to move on.

But i've got to stay on XP until i get a new pc as my current won't accept more than 512mb of memory

The trouble is that I need 2 copies not 3. I have Win 7 starter and Visa HP both to upgrade. For 3 it is a great deal but not for 2.

Tweaked Win 7 runs just as well as tweaked XP :p
There's no way I would go back.

Amazed at the number of people openly advocating piracy on here.

At £40 for one license (software4students, assuming you qualify) or £100 for 3... I really cannot see why you'd go and pirate this. Both for peace of mind and also the fact an operating system is the most important thing on your machine.
#39
just download it online, i got mine from isohunt.com, windows 7 ultimate. works perfectly, if not download ubuntu for free. the only time i would buy software is for work or business. for home use just download it for free.

the only software i ever buy is games for ps3/xbox and rarely bluray/dvd.
#40
by the way not voted. never bought an operating system so dont know if this is a good price or not
