getting cheaper every day...but why do they all seem to say 21 days for delivery...i thought windows 7 was already out??
#3
Why wouldn't you just do the ultiamte steal (MICROSOFT) deal @ £30 per student? Just put it on CD/DVD yourself.
#4
seems to good to be true if it is 30% off as ur a student that make the gross up price 42.46 and I havent seen windows 7 professional at that anywhere.+ the fact the 21 days delivery something stinks I dont know what as the computer company has been registered since 1996. I have marked hot but caveat emptor.
#5
I'm still confused about this installing on 2 machines thing. If it's true of all upgrades then this is the one to go for. If it's only true of the RM Ultimate upgrade, then that's the one to go for if you need it on 2 machines.

I got mine for free :D

For the first time this year, I've been glad to be a student (and then I'm brought back to earth by my assignments kicking my backside)

it is so cheap because:
a) microsoft wants to keep their monopoly
b) its just vista - the improved version
c) windows 8 is speculated to comin out in 2012 (beta already starting soon)

If it was XP (my predecessor OS) then some of my games wouldnt lose some fps each.
#16
Anyone who doesn't think W7 is basically Vista as it should have been needs their head read, W7 is built on the Vista core the rest is tweaks/fixes and a few new features (some of which aren't finished or documented properly)

This should have been released as SP2 for Vista really but the Vista brand was too badly damaged hence W7

Before opting for this deal, students should first check if their University is registered to the MSDN academic alliance scheme via http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/academic/dd861350.aspx

After a quick email to the MSDNAA Admin at my University, I was able to get download Windows7 Professional for free + 8 interchangeable license keys :-D

Baring in mind I had to do a clean install but it beats paying!
#18
Got my copy from these last week and you don't need an ac.uk email address if your doing a course at your workplace.
#19
Is this only available to university students and not sixth formers?
#20
We had a flyer from eldest's school with this offer:

Software for Students

They're doing at £36.95 delivered

This may well be true but Windows 7 is far far better than Vista despite being built on the Vista core. It's not just tweaks and fixes though. The core as you put it is only like the chassis of a car. This is only part of what makes a great car. Throw in crappy suspension or brakes and your chassis makes not a squat of difference.

Pardon? Standard English please.

Would have been a good offer if it wasn't for the hideous delivery charge of £7.82.

On the way out the school gates the other morning, some little girl of around 9 years said to her mate ''This has been the worst morning of my life''
I tried so hard not to laugh whilst walking out the gate, thinking little does she know ;-)

from Pugh web-site:
Windows 7 Professional Upgrade can only be used for inplace upgrades from the Windows Vista Business operating system

Does this mean I can't buy this and upgrade from XP Pro then?
#32
I recently downloaded my free copy from MSDNAA. I recommend it.
It's vastly superior to Vista and a bit better than XP.

You can upgrade from XP but it must be a clean install (i.e. you will lose your installed programs) - you can only do an in-place upgrade from equivalent Vista versions unless you upgrade from any Vista edition to Windows 7 Ultimate.

Indeed. Therefore my vote goes for the other deal @ £38.90 delivered.

Hi Guys,

I work for Pugh and have just come across this site.

The reason for the high price of postage is because we send everything signed for by Courier. This means that when you place an order, you generally receive it within 2 working days, provided we have stock at the time of ordering.

mod edit: removed self promotion text - please only post the facts - thanks

Steve :)

Had a read through there does seem to have been a problem in noveber and december possibly due to moving warehouse or something. Also there were various postal strikes at that stage. Seems to be once people had the products they were happy with them. Has anyone used them recently to clarify if the delivery problem has sorted itself out.
