For those you haven't got some relation or work for a college or university and don't want to buy one of the many copies floating around Ebay or Amazon or almost anywhere else it seems. These copies feature a stuck on holgram on the disks. On genuine disks, the hologram is part of the disk. These copies which otherwise look almost identical to the real thing cost as much as this and can be activated but the licences have been obtained illegally and may be switched off at any moment.
This is the upgrade version so you will be able to upgrade from Windows xp or Vista. If you do this carefully you can boot into either version if you have a free partition or can create one to install it on.

System Requirements:

* Windows® 7 System Requirements
* 1GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
* 1GB RAM (32-bit) / 2GB RAM (64-bit)
* 16GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit) ·
* DirectX® 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

If you are upgrading from Windows XP, you will need to back up your files and settings, perform a clean install and then re-install your existing files, settings and programs. Visit windows.microsoft.com/upgrade for more information.

Anyone voting cold please explain where you can buy it cheaper

Excellent price, no idea why people are voting as cold.

Probably because they don't realise that what they've seen or bought is a copy.
#4
Excellent price, some people are idiots on here.

Inb4 idiots say you only qualify if you're a student

If you don't fit the criteria required to purchase a legitimate copy from Software4Students then the offer from Ebuyer for the Ultimate Microsoft Windows 7 (Upgrade version) is excellent. For those who voted Cold need to realise not all the users have children and don't qualify for the offer. Likewise the Microsoft offer to the Corporate or Public Sectors.

To be fair it would be quite difficult to find someone who does not qualify for the software4students offer, it does not even have to be your own children or student!
The Key Facts About Eligibility.

1. All School, College, University students and their family members are eligible!

2.No Student ID required for Microsoft Software*:As an Official Microsoft Partner, our offers extend beyond academic email address holders so that any family member or guardian can buy on behalf of a pupil or student.

Obviously you could go up to any student in the street and use his/her email address to buy a copy (provided he/she hadn't bought one), but this deal is for people who don't qualify for whatever reason, so it doesn't make sense to vote it cold.

This is Microsoft's way of saying to non-corporate buyers "dont download pirate copies because here is a way to avoid our over-inflated prices". Anybody who pays more than the student price (£39) has too much money.

+1 - Not everybody is a student or has kids.

From software4students

"The main requirement to purchase is that the end user licensee must be a student or be a faculty member in one of our listed educational institutions".

So if your not a student, don't have kids and want to be 100% legitimate, this offer is the best you'll get............unless like me, you use the "Parrot on shoulder Eye Patch" ultimate edition.

They do not require a students email address you use your own! :)

All they asked was to specify a school from the list on their database, I chose our local primary school when I purchased win 7 pro and office 2010. :)

I suppose purists will say you should not under any circumstances buy unless you are 100% legit but I imagine that MS would much prefer people to buy their software and pay a small amount of cash than to do what millions of others do and that is use a pirate copy for free!

The software for schools version is it says for installation on ONE computer, so it's the equivalent of OEM software which can't be tranferred to another machinie: it diies with it. Whereas the ebuyer version is retail software therefore can be reused ie will activate on other machines (AFAICT). I'd be interested to hear whether anyone buying the software for schools version(s) has been able to activate a copy on more than one machine. M$ licencing is a minefield :-) Ps Office licencing is diffrerent.
